The trip average maximum mpg is 99.9. I hit 99.9 driving down the 330 from Big Bear and it topped out at 99.9

I have 7K miles on my TRD OR 4x4 DCSB and have averaged 21.3 for the last 500 miles or so, mixed driving with coastal California hills. Average was around 17.5 for the previous 1K miles when I had an RTT mounted, many miles at Interstate speeds in heavy winds, and included about 150 miles in 4wd. If it stays over 20 I suppose I'm OK, had hoped for a bit better.

1500 mile road trip 3.5 tanks

Calculated at tank fill up for accurate info seems computer(s) are off by .2-4

    1: 21
    2: 18 mountains aka. speed/performance time.
    3: 22

Even around 10% throttle it can keep speed on semi hilly land.

^^^ best assessment I have read.

If you really want to get a good assessment of you gas mileage a 28 mile trek is not getting it. I keep seeing pics of short trips and good mileage.

Go a few thousand and then do some calculations. My 07 made it from Utah to Alaska (4000 or so miles) and got an average of about 20 with an average speed somewhere around 70.

I got between 10-13 while towing a trailer through some hilly country. Normal driving around town I get around 19; on the highway between 20-21.

My last two tanks have given me right at 22 mpg. No long trips, all commuting.

I'm getting about 20 mpg for mixed suburban driving, lots of traffic lights, sometimes stop and go, sometimes 55 mph on the local state highways. Got 23 mpg yesterday on I-66 going west at 70-72 mph on a V6 with M/T.

The new math: best is 20, average is 30 :). Seriously, whether it's miles driven divided by pump gallons, or computer readings, you probably need to average all these numbers over many miles/ tanks. My last tank was 16.0 gallons at 360 miles. I let the pump shut off, waited, and pumped again, twice. That's 22.5 mpg. Computer read 21.3. Which is right? Who knows ... I haven't checked the odo with a GPS or the fuel level in the filler with a dipstick. And, after filling up, driving one mile in light urban traffic and then getting on the freeway and diving 30 miles at around 60-65, the tank average dipped below 18 and only got up to 20 or so. A few more urban stop-go miles, climbed a steep hill for a few miles (into Laguna Seca for those who know it) and the tank mileage dipped again to 18. Down that hill a few hours later, home on the freeway with lots of stop-go this time, and the tank average had crawled up to 21.5 with about 80-90 miles on the tank. With no tent on the roof and an otherwise stock 4wd auto trans truck, I'm thinking that 21 is about what I'm going to get. My automatic 4wd T100 would get about 18 in similar driving, our Prius got about 50, and our 1.8T VW and 2.5 turbo Forester (both 5MT) got slightly better and equal mpg respectively, than the Taco, but needed premium. So I think the Taco is pretty good.

This morning driving home about 70 miles I got 23.8 MPG even going 75-80 most of the time. Keep in mind it was Sunday morning so traffic was light as a feather but regardless I was pleased.

I bet if we put less fuel in the tank we get better mileage... That would be a fun experiment.

For me I filled up at quarter of a tank three times and it has been about 15 gal every time the pump stopped. To get a better mpg estimate, the variables have to be the same. That is why tank mpg is better than driving (x) amount of miles and tricking the computer into thinking you you can do 99 mpg when really you have to go back up that hill after work and get 10mpg.
