Yeah and that seems not well made to not be 70mm opening. I don't know if there may be some odd reason for it.

I would just take a dremel to it maybe, but not the best idea

The worst part of it is their customer service sucks... their response when I told them that it should be listed as a 68.5mm not a 70mm or have a note that it may require modifying which then you are aware! They told me "return it"... short and sweet after I paid almost $300 for a throttle body. 20160415_201240.jpg 20160415_204416.jpg

Anyone have a 2nd Gen Tacoma 05-08ish intake manifold? (not sure if up to 11 have been changed) I'd like to see a picture of what the hole for the throttle body looks like and what size it is. URD has no info or specs
Also, what do you guys use to mount the adapter for gasket? Sealant? Toyota uses a rubber o ring from what the dealer told me, I assume it's interesting the intake manifold side

I used "paper" gasket material bought at the local auto parts store. Then traced the outline of the TB onto the gasket paper and carefully cut out. It doesn't need to be perfect.

I think Torspd has suggested a ring of RTV gasket material to seal instead of the paper gasket route. Different ways to skin a cat....

I figured either a hand made gasket or silicone gasket... I seen a YouTube video of someone putting on a throttle body adapter without a gasket, I'm sure he had a little vacuum leak after but the video didn't show him start the truck

So if you say you used a gasket material to make the gasket how was your adapter? You didn't notice it being smaller that the throttlebody? Did you see if there was room or how big the bore is on the intake manifold side?

I could try and measure my stock intake manifold. Why don't you just measure yours? You have a SC?

I wish I had a SC... I'd like to know what to expect so I'm not down. With my truck before I tare I to it, it probably wount take more than 1 hr for install but I'd like to know if I might have to open up the bore of the intake

Ah, I see, to match the 70mm? How did you open up the bore on the adapter, sandpaper? If I don't get to it(busy week ahead for me), checking the stock bore would be relatively quick.

The air router tool that you can see in this picture is what I used... it takes for ever! To get a even circle and take away material.
Edit: yes, to match the 70mm

I'm running the 76mm Tundra TB + URD adapter. I installed them prior to my SC and I don't recall if there was a lip on the URD adapter and/or the inlet of the IN manifold. And I've read that the inlet of the SC plenum is of a smaller diameter too.

Although, because of the SC, I'm not overly concerned with any minor overlap... but I agree that port matching the TB to the adapter and the adapter to the IN manifold is the proper way to go.

Oh wow... 76mm, you have a trd SC of URD? I've heard if you bore out TRD SC bigger you can mess with the flow. Not sure of it but I can see it being true.

I have a spare plenum laying around. I can measure it.

68.16mm is the largest reading that I could achieve.

Could you take a picture of the opening? I've been so busy and have no time to install the throttle body even though it seems like it's a pretty simple install

Of course there is... for N/A you get about a 1/4 hp. (Joke) That's pretty good after spending a couple hundred $$$ :)
I am doing it more to just do it than to get hp. Some guys say that the biggest difference is the throttle response that you might notice
Now if you do your exhaust too you might get a little gain

Thanks for the pic! Looks like it would be hard to port match the plastic manifold much bigger... maybe 1mm at most

So I finally installed the 70mm throttlebody, it took about 45 min considering I sanded the imside lip of the plastic intake manifold to match the bore of the spacer 20160430_150421.jpg 20160430_151114.jpg 20160430_151919.jpg 20160430_154556.jpg 20160430_154607.jpg
The RTV silicon that you can see on the inside I ran my finger with the butterfly open to smooth it out.20160430_155225.jpg
