Next thing ya know your truck is going to fall apart because every part on it is rattling from front to rear on it`s way to getting 14 mpg.........Just before the tranny falls out ......Hang around a while, it gets much worse, just read through all the threads......It`s got to be true right, after all, this is the internet.

If you are the only driver a power seat isn't much more than an option that doesn't get used.

You know it IS possible to shop around and take a few test drives before deciding to sign on the dotted line.

I think you fellas missed the point...these are minor gripes I presented. I'm just surprised Toyota did not include a driver's seat that adjusts electrically and a lift assist for the front hood, since it includes these on its vehicles that sell for far less. Obviously, I was aware of the driver's seat gripe when I test drove the truck. I didn't look under the hood, so I didn't raise it. As for the short door opening, it was a styling compromise. None of these were deal killers.

Man everyone gets so defensive when someone points out very obvious oversights on the current form of the Tacoma or any Tacoma for that matter. I know I researched the shit out of the truck before purchasing and knew what I was buying but they did miss some very simple things on the Tacoma. Granted, I didn't test drive one before ordering or signing the dotted line but I also had a second gen and didn't expect it to be too much different despite the new motor and tranny. If I had the option to do it all over again I'd still buy the truck. Some of you guys who are getting on the OP do have to admit that Toyota does seem to cheap out and miss the mark on a handful of things with the Tacoma. Don't get me wrong I am happy with my decision and knew what I was getting into with my purchase but OP makes a good point on both the lack of power seats and no assist struts on an oversized hood. Hell, The rod that holds the hood up in my opinion is also too short and to get to the back of the engine compartment is a tight squeeze. The Tacoma has a bunch of things where they went cheap. By now the truck should have at a minimum a power drivers seat, simply for the fact that you can get the seat to fit to your comfort better than a manual seat with predetermined stop points. Another example, no beep when someone is in your blind spot and you toss on your blinker. Every other Toyota with BSM has this feature and it makes sense. If you fail to look in your mirror close enough you may miss the light so at least the beep gives another one of your senses a "hey don't change lanes stupid." Sounds nit picky but why is this the only vehicle with BSM that I have driven that doesn't have it? I ordered my truck with the Tech w/ JBL. Owned many other Toyotas with JBL and the sound has been great. The JBL in the Tacoma still sounds like shit but for some reason the Tacoma and 4Runner sound systems have always been junk. For the additional cost to add JBL I shouldn't have to have the volume almost cranked to get a little ass out of it and it still sounds muffled. A power locking tailgate should be standard equipment as opposed to an additional add on option especially for the trucks coming with the push button start. Why give me a big key for the tailgate when you've given me the option of not having to take a key out to enter or start my truck? There are a bunch other things I could probably list that would just be more nit picking but again, I knew what I was getting and none of the short comings of the Tacoma were a surprise. Why everyone gets so defensive when someone points these things out always baffles me. You mean to tell me that everyone who made the comment of "didn't you test drive the truck or you should have bought a 45K F150" wouldn't mind having these added creature comforts? Hell the sticker on my truck was just a tick over 40K, granted I only paid a little over 36K for it but does that mean I should have to pay an additional 5K and go to another manufacturer to have some of these things that just make sense? Especially given the fact that Toyota makes sure to include these items on much lower price point sedans in their line up. IMHO, Toyota knows that the Tacoma owner/purchaser is a pretty loyal group and they know they can get away with charging top dollar for the vehicle while saving a few bucks by not having these added conveniences and features because we will still buy the truck regardless. So the few bucks they save per vehicle adds up over the the span of the big picture of what they are selling and they know they will sell.
