All of the major manufacturers make them for the Tacomas. They'll be listed as long or short bed, regular cab will have the six foot long bed.

Soft tops are good (atleast the Softopper brand that I have owned). They make them in short bed and long bed versions. Yours would be a long bed version.

Have a peek around the site. There's brands called bestop and softopper.

If you're in the states, they pop up used all the time for fairly decent pricing.

I don't have one, but have been looking.

I feel as if they are not very durable. Would I have to worry about someone being able to break into the back easily? With the hard top I would not be worried.

If you are worried about somebody breaking into it, go with a hard top. I am actually selling that one in the picture for a hard top but I need one because of the winter.

Have you actually looked at hard shells? Most of them you only need to snatch the rear window and they'll pop open. They are more secure than a soft top, but generally not much more so. On models where the window doesn't go much over the top of the tailgate you can snatch the tailgate open. I leave camping gear in the back of my truck, usualy covered by a Mexican blanket, but I wouldn't leave expensive stuff back there.
