Can a Uniden 520XL be boosted? And what exactly does boosted do to a radio?

Can you find out from your guy if he can do it to that unit? And if so, how much it would cost?

where do you take your's? Took mine to the place in Lakewood that Gramps recommended. an old timere, but he boosted my Cobra 75 from 2w(2watts modulating, supposed to be 4) to 12 and 21watts modulating.

The only radio I've heard couldn't be boosted (took several of my families to be done) was the midland one that converts from a hand held to mobile. Boosting it increases the PUSH power of your transmission. I phrase it like that because it does NOTHING to your reception. so you'll be able to be heard further out, but unless the guys on the other end, have boosted radios, you won't be able to hear them. (hence why I run a 108" whip)

he'll def need the whole unit. the 75 has all the brains in the hand held portion, the little "box" is just an adapter for the coax, it has no brains in it.

Leo, Thanks again for the help/supervision on the AAL install! Can't put my finger on it, and I know it's just an 1" or maybe 2" lift in the back, but the truck just feels different. a good different. and to my surprise, it didn't make the ass end like a pogo stick like it was before the rack and RTT.

No problem Brandon. It was good to meet you. Ya it looked to be about an inch or two when we had it in ray's garage. We will have too see what happens when it all settles out a little. But I bet the improved performance won't change.
