Made some more moves this weekend, solid mounted the LCAs using the tabs I build a few months ago, incorporating a large amount of caster by offsetting them like you would with the eccentrics cams instead of center mounting them like most do.

In solid mounting the lowers, I needed heimed uppers to be able to adjust the alignment. So, installed Dirt King uppers and burned in their UCA gussets while I was at it. In talking with Downsouth, the Total Chaos gussets weren't going to work with the DK arms, so I went with the DK ones. The fit was pretty good, required some time with the angle grinder to get them fitting tight.

While I had the coilovers out, decided to do a rebuild and revalve as well. All went well except for a cracked top out bumper on the passenger shock, will need to order a replacement.

What I found interesting was the driver side had a different configuration for the top out bumper and spacers. @SconnieHailer were yours like this?

    Passenger above, driver below.

Indeed, getting pretty tired of wrenching at this point though. Only a few more mods and I am done til next winter.

A side note, spring compressors are sketchy, though for sure the one I rented from Autozone was going to explode and kill me.

No those should have been the same. Did you buy these brand new? It looks like one of your shocks was extended travel and one was not. If I had to guess the cracked bumper you had was in the driver side.

Hmm, they were new from DSM, they are both extended travel with 5 1/8" from wiper to coil perch and with the same amount of shaft after the seal cap, just spaced and configured a bit differently above it. Cracked bumper was on the passenger, must have been like that for a while though since I have been running straps for the past year. Here is what DSM has to say:

king makes running changes in shocks and doesn't let anyone know.. they just use what they have and then switch as they run out and decide to use something different.
A little strange, but oh well. Are yours like the cracked one or the second one?

Wow. They look very different. Did you verify that the extended and compressed lengths were the same while you had them unloaded?

I did, the total block height of both sides is the same, the one without the cracked bumper has the steel spacer that is much larger to make up the difference.

Here is the non extended spacer setup:

    2016-04-18_08-33-16.jpg

And here is the extended setup. Just the AL spacer is smaller. I've had my CO's since 2012.

Ok, so your's are the same as the one that broke, the other one must be the newer style. Mine were bought in 2014. Definitely the smaller spacer, same on both sides.

Got a new bumper on the way from DSM, will be back together next week. The king resi mounts aren't going to work now with the gussets, I made one mount for the driver side, welded to the gusset, still need to do another one and then the passenger side.

I am about done, just need to wrap this install up and deal with the alignment process, then make a new t-case crossmember and skid and throw the new wheels on. But for sure tired of wrenching, ready to do some wheelin, maybe next weekend.
