    Kyle being Kyle.....

"This track has sucked for me ever since the grinding," Busch said. "I'm about sick and tired of coming here since it sucks to race."

Drivers tend to hug the upper lane because the tire rubber in the upper lane creates more grip, giving the track mainly one preferred line.

Busch melted a tire bead just 52 laps into the race, was spun on Lap 116 and then crashed for a final time on Lap 259. He had rallied back into the top-10 despite those troubles, which also included a pit-road speeding penalty that sent him to 30th on Lap 192.

He said his car ended up getting too tight just before he crashed and possibly blew a tire.

"That was the weirdest thing I felt all weekend. ... I'm not sure what happened," Busch said.

Busch didn't think the fact that he had to push so hard to pass cars because of the misfortune ended up just being too much for the car or tires to handle.

Kyle likes to hug the apron. Tony Stewart was a similar style driver. Then there are drivers like Earnhardt Jr., Richard Petty and Bill Elliott who were rim riders, taking the top line around.

Kyle made some great efforts passing people, but he had a rough day. Then, he topped it all by hitting a woman with his car in the garage.

NASCAR fans don't love her? And Goodyear claims they have such great tires, but when anyone drives hard it's pop... That's ridiculous. How come years ago they could drive hard and that not happen

Radial tires are actually A LOT more forgiving than bias ply tires. SCCA still run bias ply Hoosiers and they put on a great show. If they put bias ply tires on the new low(er) downforce cars, you'd really separate the men from the boys, as they say. Kyle runs the bottom, as do most of the Gibbs guys and melted beads happen, but not on Carl's car yesterday. There are 40 guys running hard out there, so for 3/40 guys to have tire problems, them ain't bad odds. But for 3/4 Gibbs guys to have problems, that tells me they just ran a little too aggressive on the front right camber and crossed a line most the other guys didn't want to cross.

Add to that, what do you guys think about all the teams only running four lug nuts on each wheel this season?

4 lugs is fine, if a wheel is loose, they usually end up pitting and taking care of it themselves

Places like 1/2 miles tracks is a big gamble running 4 lugs, fine for bigger tracks, it bit a few people yesterday for sure.

Anyone been to Road Atlanta? I've lived here 15 years and seem to miss the Petit and Mitty every year. I'd like to check out some of the SCCA Trans-Am action this season, and they have two events (July and November). This looks freaking F U N as hell right here:

EDIT: Crap. I missed the Trans-Am weekend at Road Atlanta. The July & November dates are SCCA club dates.

I looked at my 'Dega October tickets today. Saturday was $10 with tax included and Sunday was $40 with tax. It was some package deal with kids under 12 free so I got 4 tickets total for Sat & Sun for $55. At Atlanta, the student ticket is a kids ticket and they don't care how old you are at the gate. More butts in seats looks better on TV. I've always bought a bunch of kids tickets and handed them out to my friends and we got in to the Cup races fine, no questions asked. We did the Charlotte All-star Open & truck race last May for $27 for both of us. It was a much better show than the actual All-star race, which is usually a sleeper. We saw a great battle between Erik Jones & Kasey Kahne after a gimmicky but okay Open event with the best of the rest Cup drivers, including Chase Elliott's first Cup event at Charlotte. Martinsville was a craigslist deal as we got two $100 for $50 each, but there are plenty of $50 seats at the track. Darlington is a bit more pricey lately. Pearson stand is still affordable but the frontstretch tickets seem to be increasing. That's why I didn't go last year. I watched my ticket rise from $55 to $75. Darlington is the most I've paid for a Cup ticket but it was totally worth it. The biggest ticket I ever bought was Austin F1. I paid $210 for a General Admission ticket just so I could sit on the grass. Granted, an F1 ticket is Fri testing, Sat testing & quals, support series (Ferrari, Porsche, Vintage F1), and the big show on Sunday. Still, $210 to sit on a dirt hill in the middle of Texas in late November. if you want an actual seat, you're looking at $400-500 for the cheap seats.
