    Hmmm...sounds sub optimal. I'm guessing that since that was last July if there was an issue I'd have realized it by now?

    Not 100% sure to be honest. I was trying to get the drum cover back on to test fit the new studs. And one of the calipers wouldn't compress. So I got in truck and put it in neutral and pumped a couple times to see if it would compress the caliper to the point of bein able to throw that cover on for a test fit. Then, fluid all over the ground

    Might have toasted a wheel cylinder. Hard to tell from the picture.

    Pumping the brakes with the drum off would do the exact opposite of what you were trying to accomplish...

    ^^^^^^ What he said. I did this once on a buddies jeep. We didn't know the drum came off and the wheel cylinder was toast.

    Damn, I'll look into this thanks man
    Shiiiiit. A wheel cylinder?

    Interesting. Well it didn't seem like the calipers were moving inward so I couldn't get that cover on so I tried pumping the brakes to see if they would move. That was a big mistake

    If people are leaving around same days and time, sometimes they organize a convoy out to RT....just depends. Most ppl camp out at area BFE which is where everything happens

    Don't worry. The wheel cylinder is an easy fix. You can go to any parts store and get one. Just don't drive the truck.

    Cool thank you. I'll take another look tomorrow and call Toyota parts and refer to YouTube haha.

    I wonder why I couldn't get the cover back on over the calipers though? It seemed like one side didn't want to compress inward which was preventing the drum cover from sliding back on

    I was about to say, I recall a certain similar story involving an XJ.

    Fairly easy fix, cheap part.

    Oh and BTW:

    friction material = shoes
    cover = drum

    calipers are only on disk brakes.
