yeah sorry thats the PDF Maps app, made by Avenza. I have all CO, UT and some WY/AZ/NM MVUM's downloaded. But sometimes areas are missing. Like for some reason the whole Arches NP area of Moab, I need to grab another for that. But with back country navigator you can set the areas to download the topo maps at a certain level of zooming in. Its kind of a PITA since you can only zoom out so far when you are selecting. I just did it for a huge area and it froze up, think i asked for too much! But on BCN, you can import the GPS tracks so even if you cant see the topo, you still see if you are on a previous track (like the ones from traildamage).

I was just hoping there was an easier way to download the western part of CO than manually selecting blocks at a time.

You could've popped the lid from the master cylinder and then tried to compress the shoes inward. If it was being a PITA, could've put a ratchet strap around it and tightened it just a little. But, now you wont do it again!

Hah, speaking of XJ's. I went to put the parking brake cables on my last one (had a D44 swapped rear), and when I took off the drum, all the parking brake brackets and such were missing. The reason I wanted it was since I was doing the Alpine Loop (and possibly black bear). Didnt end up doing black bear since I didnt want to die if the crappy brakes didnt work on the way down.

As far as I know that is the best one unless you want to get a real gps. I really like my garmen Montana 680. Spendy but I think it's worth it for sure

They'll only go as far in at adjusting rod/clicker wheel will allow, regardless of how much you compress the cylinder. Could try loosening the clicker wheel if it's being that much of a pain. Just remember to adjust it back up after it's reinstalled.

In my experience, the drum is a bit tricky to get back on due to a lip that wears on them. The shoes don't contact the full width of the drum, leaving just a bit that's a smaller diameter than the rest.

Yeah, its great for the MVUM PDF's. And you can add points and pictures to the maps. I would imagine pdf topo files for it would be HUUGE though. Between the three apps I have, I'm sure they do 10x what I need. I just have to sit down and learn them. Just like that dang HAM radio.

This. Most people tend to leave at different times, so it's tough to get a convoy going, but sometimes there's one, but usually only a truck or three at most.

I'll be headed out there the 27th and staying until the 5th. I imagine if you ask there's people leaving just about every day between the 27th and the 1st.

So if I might have gotten water in my diff last July would I know by now if there was a problem? And how hard is it to relocate the breather?

It's easy to do. Look up the mod for it. It's also very easy to just change the dif fluid

Ok cool. Should I be worried about changing the fluid asap? I don't actually know if any water would have gotten in.

Before I did my mod I would change it if I thought it sucked water into it. Might be over kill but cheaper and easier then new gears. Just my thought though

The diff breather is designed to relieve pressure from the diff as heat pressure builds up.
When they are new they actually do a good job of venting the pressure and still keeping water out. There is some discussion of a hot diff hitting cold water and sucking in water but I only see this as a possibility if the breather itself is fubared.
Your truck is fairly new and the breather should still be functional.

I did the diff breather relocate on my truck last year.
    It's 20 years old.
My breather was still working and I have not had any water enter my diff in the years prior.
So get it done for piece of mind but it's likely it's just fine.
