What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

This. You will learn real fast that pb blaster and a torch is a must for a nj Tacoma. Quite frankly though, I would leave the flaps off if you plan on wheeling. They will rip off real quick anyway. Took mine off and never looked back.

 

I plan on getting a torch, I just haven't yet. Along with a million other things. I'm trying to focus on spending most truck money on more pressing things, like the fuel leak or lack of 4wd. Eventually!

Take them off? I just bought them, and only have 1 on atm lol. I do want to wheel eventually, but frankly I have no immediate plans to and I'll take the risk. Just annoying that one of the POs took the flaps off in the first place.

 

k so i bought a 42" bar on ebay that is suppose to a 42" auxbeam led bar and i received a 50" rigid horse led bar should i return it??? seems to work good but its not a auxbeam but has the same features... any help on who they are??

My 01 V6 5-speed pulled my 1500 lb dry (~1700 wet) tear drop like a champ in the Sierra over 7-8k ft passes, up and down 395 past Mammoth/Bishop fine. With a very full bed of gear, too. A trailer with a lower profile, or behind a bed cap, will do better.

 

Huh, I know there are pricey bars by Rigid Industries, if it is one of those I think you made out like a bandit, but I dont think they call them "horse" bars.

I would wonder if you have a knockoff or not. How is the illumination compared to what Auxbeam says they have?

 

I loaned out my truck. I felt lost with out knowing exactly where it was, how they loaded the trailer, could he back it up well and then there was the Santa Ana winds in the high desert. AARRGGHH!!! My buddies son called and asked if he could use my truck to pull a U-Haul trailer from Orange County to Victorville to move his stuff back to his parents house in OC. I have been friends with his dad for 15 years and have been camping and backpacking with them numerous times over the years. Really squared away family, buddy and his wife are medical (as am I), son is an aerospace engineer-but he has only towed a trailer once before and the winds in the high desert were supposed to be up to 50-60 mph. Well I ended up loaning it to him with plenty of instructions and I am happy to say he returned it back with no problems-even washed and with a full tank of gas. I was more anxious throughout the day than I was prepared for, (it was easier to drop my son off at college) anyone else experience the same thing? I DO NOT think I would do this again. Thoughts...

those suckers are in there tight. I doubt the extractor will work, but hey it could. your on the right track with the bottom one. for the top one you have a couple options, find someone with a welder to tack a nut onto it and back it out. Unless you have friends with one most likely you will have to drill.

Get a few metal bits start small and send a pilot hole all the way down the CENTER of the stuck bolt. gradually work your way up in size until you have just the shell of the bolt left often it can be then peeled out with a small screwdriver. Then use a tap set to repair any damage done to the threads. If you cant get it out drill a hole slightly larger then the bolt and with a tap set clear the threads and get a slightly bigger bolt.

As this is TacomaWorld your real best option is to purchase a wraparound bumper and attach your mudflaps to the side support on the bumper.

 

and as others have said mudflaps always get ripped off wheeling. I moved mine back a bit and attached them to my bumper and I shortened them so they barely reach the rear tire to avoid pinning them between a rock and the tire.

It's on a camper shell and rack right now. Going test it like another member stated and see how it goes from there.. I like it it's just fn big..

 

Ok, I have a question, yes another question sorry. I know the common opinion on block lifts but I was just wondering if any of you would run a temporary 1 1/2 to 2 inch block lift in the back until you could afford to get some new springs. I plan on saving up for Allpro's complete expo rear lift with there ubolt flip kit. That's gonna be around 700$, working 6 hours a week is gonna take awhile to save that up.

I think I know the answer, just wanna know what you think. Or just get a 3 inch AAL, there about the same cost.

 

Blocks will be a shittier ride than an aal in my opinion. I say go with an aal for now. A little more than blocks cost wise but can't be more than 100. My .02

 

If money is tight why not just leave it as is until you're ready to pull the trigger on your ultimate/final set up?

Why waste money on an interim solution?

 

Cause I'm impatient is basically it.

 

This would be a good option too. It would be worth the wait.
