    Probably just have to have it transfered through a dealer to register it?

    I believe it can be transferred paternally, so grandfather, father, you. I don't know the exact process, but since that could have happened whenever and you aren't required to have proof of when everything happened.

    I know if a pistol was transferred it has to be registered to you, but I'm not sure if that's required now with long guns as well since those now to have to be registered too.

    ill have to do some digging. We found a few 1800 winchester rifles and some older 6 shooters. Was impressed with the condition of all of them.

    I've been discussing getting high clearance bumper on my truck. I currently have a fully loaded CBI with swing out on mine in good shape, and I'm curious what's a reasonable asking price for it? It cost me $2,200.

    Trying to weigh in on how much I would have to spend to change and if it's worth it at this point.

    I don't ever expect much discount on used powdercoated steel, unless it needs recoating, it's damaged, or rusty.

    Otherwise it's not exactly wearing down with each passing month.

    $1800, maybe?

    ...too much shit to list.
    CA Penal Code 12078
    (c)(1) Subdivision (d) of Section 12072 shall not apply to the infrequent transfer of a firearm that is not a handgun by gift, bequest, intestate succession, or other means by one individual to another if both individuals are members of the same immediate family.
    (2) Subdivision (d) of Section 12072 shall not apply to the infrequent transfer of a handgun by gift, bequest, intestate succession, or other means by one individual to another if both individuals are members of the same immediate family and all of the following conditions are met:
    (A) The person to whom the firearm is transferred shall, within 30 days of taking possession of the firearm, forward by prepaid mail or deliver in person to the Department of Justice, a report that includes information concerning the individual taking possession of the firearm, how title was obtained and from whom, and a description of the firearm in question. The report forms that individuals complete pursuant to this paragraph shall be provided to them by the Department of Justice.
    (B) The person taking title to the firearm shall first obtain a basic firearms safety certificate. If taking possession on or after January 1, 2003, the person taking title to the firearm shall first obtain a handgun safety certificate.
    (C) The person receiving the firearm is 18 years of age or older.
    (3) As used in this subdivision, "immediate family member" means any one of the following relationships:
    (A) Parent and child.
    (B) Grandparent and grandchild.

    ....however.....

    Sales, Loans, or Transfers of Firearms
    It is unlawful for a person who is not a licensed firearms dealer pursuant to Penal Code section 12071, to sell, loan, or otherwise transfer a firearm to a non-licensed person unless the sale, loan,or transfer is completed through a licensed firearms dealer. (Penal Code §§ 12071, 12072, 12082.)
    Exceptions
    1) The dealer licensing and reporting requirements do not apply to the sale, lease, or transfer of any firearm in the following instances (Penal Code § 12078(u)):
    Firearms obtained by individuals through operation of law, such as:
    - the executor or administrator of an estate;
    - a trustee in a bankruptcy proceeding;
    - an assignee for creditors;
    - a receiver for an estate in receivership;
    - a surviving spouse;
    - a transfer of property between spouses.

    Moral of the story....if it's parent/child or grandparent/grandchild, just say it was gifted before they passed. If it's a handgun, fill out the intra-familial handgun form and pay your 19 bucks. If it's a sibling, the sibling gifts it to a parent/grandparent, and parent/grandparent gifts it to you. Otherwise you'll need to be a receiver for an estate. If that's a no-go, you will need FFL.
