The paycheck of a 737 is more generous than that of the F-18.

There are also divorced law enforcement, fire fighters, CPA's, plumbers, etc.... Aviation isn't the only industry associated with marital hardships.

America is associated with marital hardships.

Edit: It's part of being human.

    Um.....actually it's not.

When I retired in 2012 I was pulling 6 figures. The very reason I still don't consider the airlines is the 80% pay cut just to start.

... ^^^ ... Very nice aircraft ... what kind of headsets do you guys use ??? ... just curious as I have mostly used D/C's in the past.

PS ... I have never done "fixed wing jets" though.

If I am following you correctly - You retired at six figures and compared that with first year pay. Not exactly equal, that's like O-1 with less than one year of service compared to O-6 at 20 years of service.

Using SouthWest's pay scale, because 737 is what was mentioned earlier and they only operate 737s. First year pay is $57 per flight hour or roughly $57k. Year 12 and up is $216 per flight hour. That is the range of pay scales from first year to retirement. Again if I misunderstood you, than this is all irrelevant In full disclosure, I am not a SWA employee but these are figures from airline pilot central.

Those look like the Telex 750 or 850. The 850 have built-in noise cancellation and are very comfortable.

I could use a new headset. I have an old Telex my uncle gave me that he doesn't use anymore. It's pretty ancient and one of the ear speakers crackles when someone comes on the radio talking too loudly

Those are Telex headsets. I could not tell you which model because I don't know that kind of stuff, but they do have noise canceling and are very light. I don't know how well they would work in a prop plane or a loud cockpit, but they work well for quieter cockpits.

I think one of the loudest places I have ever been is the right seat of a Grumman Goose taking off from San Pedro on the way to Catalina.
Radial right next to your head.

Damn, I never thought to google these before. Flew in them when I was like 10 or 12. They'd let someone sit up in the cockpit in the right seat. I almost dove in there right away.
