Let's figure this one out. It feels to me like it's coming from the driveline. Feels similar to my second generation driveline vibes. Thoughts?

Mines been back at the dealership since last Thursday @ 7:00 am. I bought on 3/12 and it is doing this. Currently, the rear diff is getting replaced because it failed at 400 miles. They are going to see what, if any, effect this has on this described vibration and go from there. A toyota engineer is involved and they are documenting it. I have a thread started that I update when I find out info too.

My rears did not. I fixed that on the day I drove it home. I did not do the fronts and they still have not been done, but they are going to go over everything before I get it back. They are going to ride along before I take it back and I'll crawl under and check the paint on the fronts.

I had the exact same problem, the noise would go away when i engaged 4wd so i thought is could be the needle bearing but i then zip tied the front driveline and the noise went away completely, i think it is caused by the front diff fluid, meaning there is a viscous coupling going on even tho the add is not engaged, it was a problem with the 2003 tundras, they even put it in the owners manual.

Seems to be a large complaint with both the manual transmission as well as the automatic . There have been a few guys asking me about this issue and we were in the process of diagnosing it .
Shut the truck off in nuetral at 30 mph and let the truck coast to a stop . Do not use the brakes .
If you still feel the vibration / shudder , you definitely have the symptoms
Turning your truck off eliminates your engine and transmission
    I agree with

Where abouts do we place the zip ties ?

Yea I had the vibration when coasting in neutral and when in drive (2wd), it was worst on cold mornings, I assume it was due to the front diff fluid being thicker, and I took a long zip tie and went through the front u-joint and then through a hole in the frame and make it snug.

Oh, you are keeping it from spinning at all. What about if you want to use 4wd? Are you going to pull over and cut the zip tie? Or gun it in 4hi in hopes to snap it off hahha

Sounds like if it stopped completely then it is either a balance issue or drag issue like you said with the viscous coupling.

Just picked up my new truck with 8 miles on it last week. Drove off the lot and braked at the stop light and immediately noticed a rumbling/vibration in the truck as I stop. Basically always present around the 15-20mph range. Will let dealer know on my next visit. V6 DCSB OR Auto. Build date 4/2016 baja

Didn't expect this on a new vehicle =(

yea its a skinny zip tie and when i engage 4wd it breaks right off. I am thinking its also because its new, the gear tolerance is very tight and the fluid between the gears creates friction, maybe it has to get broken in, the truck only has 500 miles on it.

    I have been dealing with this since I bought my 2016 SR5 4x4 Dbl cab, 4 weeks ago. Been to the dealer three times;
1st - (500 Miles) Balanced Tires, hooked it up to the techs computer, all checked out OK.
2nd - (1200 Miles) Took the Service Adviser for a test drive, both of us felt the "rumble strip" vibration coming to a stop. ECT makes it less noticeable, but it's still present. I was told to wait for a TSB for software update on shift points.
3rd - (1600 Miles) Transmission Fluid checked, after leaving it overnight, 3 techs agreed it was at the correct level, told to call Customer Service
Customer Service has "Opened a Case" and I have a "Case Number"... heard back today, they are contacting the dealership and are hoping we can have a positive resolution....
Standing by... hoping for a "Buy Back" lemon law issue... Not happy!

Yea, mine too, sometimes worse than others. Usually it's light and barely noticeable, but sometimes bad enough that it makes the dash rattle a bit. I'm going to bring it up at the 5000 mile service.

I just used some small plastic zip ties I had on hand. I had to put three of them together because they were short. I went through the front drive shaft, forward most u-joint then straight down through the holes in the rail below it and cinched it up. Kind of a quick job just to see if it would work.
