What he said except I wouldn't worry too much about the head gaskets. The V8 is super solid and a great engine. You do need to get the timing belt done at 90k intervals of close to it as its an interference engine and the engine will get damaged if it breaks.

I have the craftsman one from Sears. Not the strongest but it gets the job done and I don't have to worry about snapping bolts left and right. Plus it was $100 so affordable at the time.

I thought so. I find it weird that the 2003-2005s had issues, yet you never really heard of HGs being issues on the 2nd gen tacos.

It's pretty good. Comes with nickel batteries but there are lithium versions to buy.

Gotcha, yeah the v8 is a beast and an awesome engine. Love the torque.

The 2nd Gen taco didn't start till 2005. 2003 and 2004 were still the 1st generation and had the 3.4L. As @dtaco06 mentioned the 05 Tacos had the issue, it was only 1 year instead of multiple for the 4Runner

Thanks for the help guys. I'm heading to look at an 03 later this week. It's got 200k on it but the guy just pickedit up in SoCal. Said it drove great. I'm checking into a PPI for it. The pics he sent me look nice. Only issue he me mentioned was a small crack in the dash.

Not sure what the fine is but I'm pretty sure some of the spots are first come first serve. You just set up. You don't have to reserve. Ask in my home. The 805 thread.
