Glad to hear your okay. In May I rear ended some idiot because he was on his phone and slammed on his breaks. It totaled my Infiniti and I only hit him going 5-10miles an hour. It was my fault since I hit him but at least I was able to get into my Tacoma because of it.

I had a similar hit on mine. They had to replace the rear axle as well because it wouldn't align right. Total cost of repars was about $8K, without replacing the bed, exhaust or tailgate.

A note for those to consider about uninsured/underinsured coverage, out here, it only covers your total insurance amount - minus their coverage.

So for example, if you only have basic coverage and they only have basic coverage, your underinsured motorist coverage won't pay anything and the total amount you would get for any accident would be the basic amount.

As another example, if I had $50K in coverage and they had $15K, my insurance company's payout would a maximum of $35K (not $50K).

A friend of mine is a paralegal for a personal injury lawyer and she sees this confusion all the time.

They wanted nothing to do with me, spoke next to no english. The cop told me they didnt want to file a report and didnt take any of my info at all then left when he told them they could. I have no idea why, but I did see them take the info from the girl that hit me.

Very true, and also why I have gap coverage on all my cars. Its not a lot to get and your 100% covered for the total left on the car in any case.

Just got a call from Toyota, I should be getting my truck back tonight! In all i had my exhaust replaced, rear axel, gas tank, bed, front and rear bumbers and covers, and the frame to bumper mounts in the back replaced. $12k in all. I kinda wish USAA would have just wrote it off, but it looks good from what I saw. I'll post up some pictures of it later this week after I get it.

USAA is the bomb when it comes to member service. I would never even consider another company.

Glad to hear you good to go man, and like others have already said thank you for your service.

Oh and just a theory on why the people in front of you didn't want a report; assuming for a moment they were of Hispanic decent, they could have been illegals and didn't want to risk the chance of being deported over something that wasn't their fault.
