mine is coming out of Houston and its 5 days late now. anyone else have one in Houston they are waiting on? my dealership told me that all over there Tacomas are coming in late.

 

Have you seen the weather in Houston?

 

haha yeah that's what I asked my sales guy if my truck was under water and if they are just letting it dry out before they put it on the truck haha.

I picked up my '16 MT TRD Sport at about 11:30 am.

 

I really like that truck. Can't wait for mine! Access cab sport white.

I'm in SoCal and we all know that dealers hear don't care about their future repeat customers and act like they are giving you a favor by selling tacos over MSRP.

So I gave Costco program a chance and found a dealer that will order for me close to invoice in writing. So I ordered QS DC Trd OR 4x4 along with few goodies today and the waiting game has begone! My sales guy is expecting delivery between 6-8 weeks does that sound right? Seems pretty fast comparing to what you guys been waiting for.

 

Ordered mine 7 weeks ago and received the temp vin and a build date of 4/8. Found this forum and have been reading daily since then while anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Was told by the dealer yesterday that they tried to submit the order 3 times to Toyota which failed each time, and they apologized for not getting back to me sooner. I was previously told "Everything is on schedule." Extremely frustrated now and have already contacted several other dealers to see what options I have. I was expecting to receive it within the next week or too, but looks like I'll be joining the waiting game again.

Going down to the dealer today to find out what happened as it sounds like bullshit.

 

Yeah this sounds weird. When you receive a temp vin # that usually means Toyota already accepted it and it's in the system...

 

my dealer said there was no temp vin# and I had to wait for it to be put on the truck on its way to the dealership before they can get the vin#..and now its 5 days late......with no vin...

 

Every dealer seems to handle these orders differently. Mine never asked for a deposit and never gave me a temp vin. They kept me updated every week or so. Initial order was March 1 and I was told 6-8 weeks. It got to VPC on 4/4 and to the dealership on 4/12. I picked it up on 4/15.
My salesman called me a few weeks prior to delivery to VPC and went over the selected options/accessories. I was very specific about what I did and did not want. Well, they added several accessories that I did not want and the invoice even showed that it had a tonneau cover which it did not have! I fought as best I could and got them to come down a little bit, but basically they are playing the "these trucks are in HUGE demand" game. My salesman told me on the test drive that they are limiting how many TRD's are being made and only allowing 1 per dealership. He said if dealers are trying to stock up on them, such as ordering them as pre-sold, then saying the sale fell through so they can have more TRD's on their lot, and Toyota finds out, that Toyota is threatening to pull their dealership!!!! Sounds a bit extreme to me.

 

I received a temp vin # as soon as Toyota accepted the order. As soon as the truck was built, I was able to get a permanent vin.

Well I ordered mine in January. I was told 2-3 months wait. It's been just about 3 months and still no word when I can expect it. I was told that the originally salesperson I ordered through "is no longer with [them]." I have a suspicion that she screwed up my ordered, or possibly never placed the order. Either that or the dealership is being shady and sold it to someone else for a higher price, due to high demand (I got a decent price, but not the deal of the century by any means). I spoke with a new salesman yesterday that is taking over for me (same dealership), he was telling me that the TRD sport with tech pkg is taking longer to mfg. This may be true, but I definitely feel like they're trying to CYA.

Anyone else had issues with TRD Sport and tech pkg? I was told yesterday that it's a 6 month turn around
It's a DCSB MGM 4x4 TRD Sport.

I've been looking all over the state at other dealerships and haven't found one yet.

 

What state are you in? Yea sounds shady to me, I wouldn't go with that dealer again....

 

I would not be talking to a salesperson at that point. I'd be talking with GM.

Just found out they added a tonneau cover and mud flaps to my truck, which I did not want. Oh well... I just want my truck already!!!!

 

Got my real vin today, truck is listed as in transit. Expected delivery April 27 to May 2.
