Isn't the Overland the top of the line model?

Nvm, it's not. But it's pretty high on the totem pole

I drive a lot of Jeep/Chrysler products for my job and the higher end ones run smooth and no problems, my daughter has a grand Cherokee and owned it for 2 yrs and no problems.

Nah I'm just messing with you! But that really sucks that you got a lemon. Not all the third gens are like that and I think you know that. Unfortunately, Toyota will continue to TRY to make their products more efficient so... unless they can create a hybrid Tacoma or an all electric one, any new Tacoma will have a "sluggish" engine....

Eh, at the end of the day it's only money, if you can afford it might as well take the hit and do what will make you happy

I guess we should all trade in our Tacomas.

but that means everyone should trade in every vehicle they own

Honestly, I think we will be seeing a lot of used 2016's if Toyota keeps saying everything is normal. The buzzing vibration is akin to chinese water torture, I can't see many people putting up with it in a 30-40k vehicle. I can't take a $6k hit, so in the mean time, I buzz from point A to point B (at least point A and point B can be a whole lot of places with the Tacoma). Other than that, I don't have too many issues besides the driveline vibes at low speed and howling wind through the seals.

Hopefully Toyota fixes things soon or the domestics will see what is going on. Ford will revive a mid-size and, if they are smart, drop a manual transmission option on it and RIP Tacoma.

I really, really hope Toyota fixes these things though, it is a great vehicle besides the common issues it has.

Funny, I traded in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee for my '16 Tacoma. I'll never buy anything from Chrysler again. Dodge/Chrysler has been one of the worst products I'e purchased. Loving the new Tacoma....

To each their own I guess....

I'm sure it will be real nice too, but unfortunately Chrysler does not have very strong long term reliability at this moment

My wife has a 2012 JGC Laredo 4x4 with the hemi. Great riding car. We can get 21 on the highway but in town its more like 15 mpg.

The vehicle has been great so far. Had a few minor recalls done, but did not experience the issue that caused the recalls.

To each their own. Would not let this experience shape how you feel about Toyota as a whole. Most of the 2016 bugs will get worked out. Just have to wait on the TSBs.

yeah, I can understand the other issues which would cause one to switch, but MPG is not that bad. TBH, I don't drive like a old fart, but I can consistent get 23-24+ mpg and I have a fully loaded TRD-offroad DCSB v6 4x4 with tow package.
I'm certainly not trying to hate on the OP, his truck was messed up, but MPG wise, a grand Cherokee is not much better. It is probably more fun to drive haha
