Yeah, 4wd is surely nice to have! Thanks for the compliments :)
I'm stoked. My shell is really an inconvenience more times than I really need it, so it's going bye bye. I think the only thing I'm going to miss will be the lockable storage, but I have plans to do something with my rear seats that will cure that issue. I very rarely carry more than one other person in my truck anyway.

    Fair enough!

It looks like the Wilson Silver 4' flex antenna is even more flexible than my FireStik flexible antenna. I'm going to do research on those. Wilson antennas are supposed to be really good

Edit: It doesn't need a spring either

I've heard good things about Wilson as well. I'm choosing FireStik just because I have more experience with it.

My FireStik is decent. It doesn't have the range and clarity I really want though. I may have just been sold on the Wilson Flex because it doesn't need a spring...

The FireStik that my dad has on his FJC works fine and range is rather good. I don't know why you'd want 100 miles radius or so, but yea. I'm pretty sure clarity shouldn't be an issue. If I can understand what the other person has said then I'm good.

I can understand people within about 2 miles. Maybe 4 miles if I'm up on a hill. I'm just saying that there are "supposedly" better options out there for a flexy fiberglass, top load antenna that could give better performance. I'll try it and report back though. I'd totally rock a 102" whip and tie it down humvee style, but I'm pretty sure some off road parks won't let you in with those...

I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Wilson. I'll probably stick with the setup that I have just because I can get it all on Amazon for nearly $100 :D

How much are you spending for the FS and spring?

You're going to want a spring for sure

I would if I was going to mount it on say one of BAMFs tailgate mounts, but I'm mounting it on the the passenger side of my front bumper. If I put a spring up there it's just going to be slapping my hood and that I don't want.

The FireFly really isn't THAT flexible. Granted mine is the 3' model, I wouldn't feel comfortable bouncing it off trees without the spring
