yep! I just changed the 3D model and reprinted. :) added the contour to what I THINK is the right dimension.. only a fit test will tell.

Yep, Put me on the list and tell me where to throw my money. It's the one thing they missed in designing all of this.

alright guys. new bezel is printing. the one that I printed overnight was a decent fit. the radius I used for the curvature of the console was too great. pushed the middle portion up. adjusted and trying again. Also removed the lock tabs on the bottom, I think it will work fine without just using the friction fit.

As you can see.. It allllmost fits the curvature. Problem is im fighting other areas now.

So.. I think I may change one more thing.. Add some room under the top flange (make it thinner) to accommodate some 3M tape underneath to pull it down to match the console's curvature. If that makes sense to everyone.. Lol

Gonna try painting it black and getting it all done so you guys can get a real idea and judge the final look of it.

also might try a version that doesnt have the curve in it (more generic mounting bezel) and use the 3M tape method on that too..

Maybe something like RTV to seal and hold it, just put some weight on top of it while its drying?

Making one more bezel overnight to try something different. But here it is...

    20160420_155107.jpg

I sanded down the part a bit to smooth out the print pattern and hit it with some black trim paint, the same paint I used for the console itself. I then added the small pieces of 3M automotive tape to the corners in an attempt to "pull" them down. It works, but the thickness of the tape kinda doesn't. Lol

Im going to sand, paint, and use RTV on thenl next one. Im also going to print another after this one is all finished up, with no curve under the top flange. This will make it flat and will be for the people who choose to mount elsewhere.

let me know what you guys think.. I can make small changes if needed. I think tomorrow's version will be better honestly. it wills it more flush.

Even better in black! I think I'd fully sand the final candidate down, maybe even use some filler to smooth it out.

Looks so much better than surface mounting!!

yeah getting it smooth is gonna be tough. honestly that would be up to you guys. I have sanded down 3D prints before.. for work.. and they still have that texture as its throughout the model. tomorrows will be the final test.

to go along with that above.. when I make a run of these.. they will have their imperfections and stuff, I will try my best to get them as perfect as possible before sending out, but just want to give you guys a heads up. I do need to trim/sand some trouble spots away while I pop in the switch panel, but its that tight fit that does it, so its no biggie to me to work it a bit to get it where I want it. So.. I can print em, get em as good as they can get.. then off to you guys so you can paint, sand more, do whatever.

I want them to be great for you guys.. but also wanted to let you know they wont be perfect. if you are ok with that.. I can do these for you :)
