I have a dream that my Tacoma will one day live in a nation where it will not be judged by the generation it belongs to, but by the Toyota emblem that it wears!

Yeah I had fun with that one

Im not suprised that the 2016's have problems. It takes a few years to get the bugs ironed out on a new model.

The few times I drove my brothers it felt smooth around town and the brakes seemed much better than my 2011.

He did start complaining about the constant shifting before it ended up in the bone yard.

GEE. You folks are scaring me. I am starting to second guess my plans for ordering a 2017. The dealer wants me to order a 2016 but with what I see on this forum makes me feel uneasy I need a new truck now as my 06 has seen her best days with 230000 miles I can't wait till 2018 or 2019 for a replacement. It has even cross my mind to get a used gen2. Any advise

Talk to other mechanics that don't work for Toyota dealers and they will tell you to wait a couple of years till bugs are worked out.

Just out of curiousity did you test drive the truck? If i was dumping 35k on a vehicle I'd test drive it first. There is only about 100 threads on the transmisson issues so if i was test driving i would be trying to pay attention to something like that.

Not buying another toyota product is taking it to the extreme don't you think? Especially to go and get a new chrysler. This is coming from someone who owns a jeep grand cherokee wj by the way.

Either way sorry about you bad experience with your truck, hope you have better luck with your jeep.

Your experience is not the norm. I drive like grandma and get 19.1. See fuelly for the real numbers on this truck. It's closer to 18.8mpg for the V6

I just don't get why the complete opposite change from having 4 Foreign trucks then completely switch to semi American suv. That's like saying I've dated 4 girls and didn't work so I'll turn to Middle Aged men
