Redline Hood struts

Is there a thread that shows more detailed pics and or tips on installing the quiklift plus struts. Or does anybody have any tips or tricks themselves.

 

Do you have them? They come with pretty good instructions. I installed some a few weeks ago without any problems.

I installed mine a few weeks ago - the instructions were quite clear, though if I had it to do over, I would mount the hood brackets at 15.5 inches, not 16 as in the instructions. At 16", the hood is slightly less open than with the prop-rod.

 

You can download .pdf instruction files from the web site as well. I found this helpful when installing as you could zoom in on the pictures for better detail.

 

Tip #1 - be very, very careful when drilling the holes in the hood frame. It is very easy to punch through and ding the outer sheet metal from the inside. Then the exterior skin of your hood will show a visible dimple. I've seen this happen. Use a drill stop if you have one that small. It says to do this in the instructions - be sure to do it.

Good Advice

Just go slow when drilling, I've put 2 sets of these on at this point and drilling through your hood is by far the only thing to watch out for.

Hopefully you have a better rivet gun than I do....that was the worst for me.

*facepalm* Why do people continue to clutter this forum with multiple unnecessary threads. Especially something done before.

 

I need help im installing my redlinetuning hoodstruts but the only problem I have is that I have a volant intake and it's hitting it on the down here is a picture

 

Looks like you're out of luck with that unless you can trim the intake or just use one strut.

Going use the driver side

 

they work great. i was leary of the nut cert tool that came with the kit, ended up using a different one but all is well so far. there is a bit of deflection on the upper frame rail, which may fatigue and fail. but with me i'm not concerned. by the time that happens ill be with a 1 piece front end.

 

install is supposed to be trouble free

 

It is. Took me all of 10 mins

 

Riding with one hoodstrut volant intake won't me run the other one

 

anyone know if the trd intake is in the way?

 

Not sure. But one strut should hold the hood up fine. They are strong. The main difference is (IMO) is the hood will most likely not lift itself as it does with two struts mounted. I just open the hood and it raises by itself the rest of the way.
