As a new lurking member here trying to learn and make a decision about the new Tacomas; thank you for the thread. Reading about all the problems has me reconsidering other options and its good to see some positive feedback.

1500 and no issues here. Shifts great, doesn't hang gears. It's been good.

But I did check everything myself, ATF fluid, u-bolts, greased u-joints.

    It's been really enjoyable.

I've had two issues with mine and both were resolved reasonably quickly and professionally. I also added ATF, greased the u-joints, and swapped out the diff(s) oil (which wasn't low) with Amsoil synthetic At about 9k miles I am loving this truck. Offroads great, smooth on the road, comfortable for 9+ hours at a time on long road trips, nearly 23mpg avg. in all sorts of driving conditions. About the only thing I would like to see improved is an update to the cruise control software to give it a greater dead band.

Some people have real issues with their trucks I am sure but these days a lot of people just love to make themselves feel good by running their mouths. As is always the case, most complaints about poor mpg involves the person pushing the gas pedal.

just got my gun & grease in, hoping to have time this weekend to grease
    all the zerks.

Dealer straight up lied about filling them, all 5 were left untouched.

I love my truck haven't had any issues...except the hood vibrates the shifting transmission sucks ass, fluid wasn't filled, downshift from 2nd to 1st feels like I'm driving a school bus, windshield is cracking, zerks were dry, steering wheel vibrates like a high speed dildo, delay from reverse to drive, radio resets, blind spot monitoring system failed on drive home from dealer, fender liners inside wheel well rattle like hell. Oh what else is there I'm sure I missed a few.

EDIT: speedo needle ticks, power steering fluid leak, gas mileage is no better than the 2009, howling control arms, squeaking leaf springs, u bolts weren't torqued, passenger seat/center console rattles

You constantly complain about the problems you have with your truck, why haven't you sold it yet? Seriously.

I agree on the transmission. I hate how it always down shifts and when I put it on cruise control, it down shifts over any minor stupid incline/hill. I feel like I get worse mpg when throwing it on cruise than I do using my own foot. I haven't had any vibration issues, or rattling. I do have the 4 banger 2.7 which is bullet proof. Only time will tell.

Do 2nd gen owners still post in the 2nd gen forums? Or do they all just come here to troll the 3rd gen owners?

Great thread! Love how everyone thinks all these trucks have issues but there are plenty who don't. Most of the people posting have nothing better to do then to bitch. The guys who don't have problems are out enjoying their trucks.

Not to take away from the few that have had legitament problems, and I will agree it's uncalled for for a truck to roll out of the assembly line with low fluids and ungreased joints, but a lot of people's complaints just seem petty or limited to a small bunch of tacomas. You gotta remember they have already made probably 40k of these or more already. Even Toyota airbag bolt recall where some jackass mixed the bolts up only effected a few hundred tacomas. If that was GM or someone else they would prob still be putting the wrong bolts in the vehicles before it was noticed
