I just installed 5100s all around with 885 coils and icon 3 leaf pack with overload I love the stance of the truck but when I drive it's a little bouncy is it possible I put something together wrong or do I need axle shims or a diff. drop kit? I haven't gotten an alignment yet and I will be putting my tires on then they are 265/70/17 any help is greatly appreciated thanks

The rear might be a little stiff bc you used the overload spring

Is there a way to fix that or will it go away in time

Get your alignment (and good luck getting it done right with the lift. I had 3 alignments before they nailed it) and then reassess before you go changing anything else...

Mine rode so much different pre and post alignment...

Was it a better ride after the alignment?

    lol yes...

Shoot for 0 camber and 0 toe and get the caster as close to +3 as possible.

I got lucky and got a technician willing to work with me. He changed the setting in the computer to match what I wanted. Most of them will try and get it aligned to 'factory specs' which is not correct for a lifted truck. My first alignment was to factory and it jerked all over the road. The 2nd alignment was a tad better but that technician didn't even know that the UCAs would change the alignment at all. 3rd time was the charm

I had the same issue but I used 884 coils. I left the overload in with the 3 leaf pack as well and it was pretty bouncy. I removed it and the ride was much better.

+1 on luck getting it aligned right. I've had the shop do my alignment a few times now (I have LR UCA's) and it's still not perfect .

That has nothing to do with a bouncy ride.

Your lift is firmer than stock. There is no way to fix it and nothing wrong with it, except false expectations.

I need to find a technician like that. The shop I keep making a mistake going to can't grasp the concept of what I'm asking, which is an alignment to the specs that you have listed.

After my first misalignment I didn't go back to that shop (they told me it was a bad tire causing it to go all over the road, which was not the case...)

The 2nd two alignments were both at the same shop, I just got a better technician the 2nd time around...

    Good luck!

describe "bouncy".....? (ie, jittery and unable to hold the road or literally bouncing like a basketball....?) Is it directional control or up and down over bumpy roads? I have the same shocks and front coils, with a slightly different rear leaf. Mine is the smoothest riding 4wd I've ever driven. What tires do you have now, and what psi? I've installed a few lift kits for other people, plus my own. That gave me the opportunity to drive several that were WAY out of alignment prior to being re-aligned. Never drove one I'd describe as "Bouncy".....

You could take out the overload spring when doing the AAL. I cut my AAL and used it as a block to keep the height but not so much the stiffer ride

As @DCSBFTMFW mentioned, the overload has nothing to do with the bouncy ride. It's not providing any increase to the spring rate during normal driving. Only comes in contact with the rest of the leafs if your tire is stuffed (going into negative arch).

Then I think it may be the alignment. My truck ride like crap til after the alignment. It is a little stiffer but also check tire pressure

I didn't even think an alignment could get rid of a bouncy suspension. lol

    This ^^^^

Im not saying this applies to the OP its just a generalization that ive gathered fom my experience.
It can be a common misperception that a lift makes a truck "float" because it is higher, and because you are lifted and may have more travel, that bumps will be absorbed better, making a city street smooth sailing and better than stock.
The reality is lifts always make for a stiffer ride, as they are designed not just to fit bigger tires, but to increase performance in offroad situations. If lifts were softer, then body lean would be increased alot, and would be dangerous, think rollovers from quick steering adjustments on the highway. My 07 has an arb 886 Dakar and when it was installed I loved and still do love the way it makes my truck ride but it was noticeable how much it translated potholes speed bumps etc to me. and the only time I thought the ride was smoother than stock was when I ws going 40 on dirt /backroads. ... maybe air down your tires as was suggested or listen to me and @DCSBFTMFW
