SOLD! going to pick up some next month before Moab. Thanks! I was leaning towards the Timbrens... but don't have the $ right now. and considering I can get the wheelers f/r for the price of just one or the other of the timbrens... I was just unsure of how they'd perform (especially since the front say 2nd gen)

I know the rear kit is nice. Get the spacers too, you'll need them most likely. I did a write up on them in my build. Only thing i can say bad about them is that the bolt isn't long enough for the spacers so i had to get longer ones. But still. them work great.

yeah I remember seeing them in your build, but guess I never saw what your impression of them was. and now that I see they WILL work up front, I'm sold.

did you use both spacers? did yours come with spacers (I see they sell them separately)

Speaking of Moab, when is that or Rock Therapy? Is it the same as WV week?

I bought both sizes. Think i have the 3/8s in right now. Thinking of adding the 1/4'' too but they still work well with the 3/8''.

I have it mounted above the mirror to the map lights. Check my build thread, I have had it mounted in several places, I like this the best. I moved the mic mount to the switch plate below the radio.

Off the wall question, did the cruise control implementation change in the 1st gens after 2000 or so?

I ask this because I have a 2000 RAV-4, and I was expecting the same CC layout.
I also consider the CC to be far superior in the RAV-4 in every way.

In the RAV-4 it is nearer to the wheel than the washer stalk, on the right side at about 4:00. It also is designed to be pushed/held up or down for adjustments, instead of the little stupid buttons one has to hunt for/look for on the 2003. On the 2003 it is further back from the wheel than the turn signal stalk, on the left side at 10:00 or so, and is a pain to reach in comparison.

Given the fact that since you arent usually using the wipers (which I believe to strongly be the case) the CC will be used more often. In addition you often set the wipers once where as normal traffic conditions will mandate adjustments and/or resumption of CC.

Frankly the implementation on my vehicle sucks huge amounts of ass in comparison to that on the 2000 RAV-4. Its like they got stupid. It almost makes me wonder if I can rummage through some junkyards and swap it with an older setup.

Sounds like you have aftermarket CC. The way you described the Rav is how my 95 is.

You have aftermarket. Toyota has kept the same CC layout since 95. Both my 95 and 03 are the same. As is my brothers 00 tr4 and my aunts RAV4 and my dads 08 tacoma buddies 08 tundra, both moms Toyota mini vans she's had and every other Toyota I've been in.

You could remove the aftermarket CC and install a factory one, thats what I did. The hard part was running down the correct CC computer. I understand that if you have 'drive by wire' (rather than a throttle cable) its a lot easier, all you have to do is source the switch on the stalk, and maybe the stop light switch.

Thanks. That is great news. It shouldn't be too hard to change then.
It will also give me a huge amount of satisfaction.

That would/might also explain why I dont see a CC light on the dash go on either. Just a stupid light on the stalk. But that would appear silly on Toyota's part. I would expect the dash to be made all the same for economies of scale, and the light to be there. Hmm. But that would mean the aftermarket and the regular don't work with the harness the same way.

So the other stalk, and probably a different steering column shroud.
I can source it from Tacomas or 4Runners (I assume). I would think both those default to tan (or maybe grey) unlike other Toyotas.

Beginning to see what you mean...

I have a CC module I pulled out of my 99 Tacoma...still good to go! I pulled it out for my dual Battery and I would never use cruise control, I live on an island with horrible traffic that wouldnt allow me to even if i wanted to. let me know if you want/need it
