Goodyear Wrangler TD?

Anybody have any experience with the Wrangler TD's? Local Firestone has a set of 265's he'll give me for 544 out the door! They are a load range C, which is good...

I was hoping to get some Duratrac's, but they are on backorder till mid jan...And these TD's are way cheaper...

 

the td is an ok tire.....kinda like a mt, but with smaller lugs, and no siping. i have heard they dont balance real well, but who knows. my buddy at the goodyear place here likes them pretty good.

I put a set on mine this fall and so far have no complaints.Recently had our first major snow of the year and they do great. My guy didn't have any problem balancing them.

 

go to americas tires. I found 4 duratracs my first try from them. plus they price match. $960 out the door

 

Any expereince with them in the rain by any chance?

 

I went with hendooman's advice and got what I wanted. I got a set of BFG AT's in 265/75r16, and I absolutly love them! I got them for 770 out the door at a local tire shop.

This is my 6th set of BFG AT's.

 

Just got back from Discount and the guy told me the TDs are discontinued. I thought they were fairly new. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I can see them being discontinued, the TD's came stock on 1/2 ton Chevy's back in the 90's. I think it was the Z71 package...

I see the TD's new on CL in my area for like $360 for 4.

 

I have the Wrangler TDs on my 1G and don't have any complaints about them. I had to go with them due to price. $504 out the door vs $850+ on others. I have driven from Little Rock to Bethesda, MD towing trailer and no prob w/them. They handled great in the snow and rain. I'd love to go with pricier rubber but I am wondering if it would have made that big of a difference. I haven't had a chance to go wheeling yet (not as many places up here in Maryland vs down in Arkansas) but think they will do fine. I had no road noise at all when I first got them, after a few thousand miles they seem to talk a bit more but still not loud at all. Nothing compared to my Maxxis Mudders on my old rig. I'd say go with them unless your truck never sees pavement.

 

Since their price is attractive, I'm considering getting maybe 5 or 6 of them since they're discontinued.

I've got a buddy who bought a used Tundra with them. They look good and did well offroad the few times I've ridden with him. How much and how hard do you wheel your truck? I would think these would be fine for moderate offroad use.
(I do love my Duratracs though. Don't make any more noise than the set of Michelin Highway tires I had before them.)
