I haven't owned a Toyota truck that the windshield hasn't been replaced.
87, 90, 95, 2006, now my 2013 has a crack that happened when I started the truck on a cold day in winter.
My other rides, no replacements. 95 VW Cabrio & a 97 Honda Del Sol Original owner.

I got a little tire warranty book with my truck. Have not read it, but it might help your situation. Tire coming apart at 8k is not road hazard, it's a defect. Unless u hit something really hard. I have had no issues with my windshield yet.

It'd be a road hazard if a tech looked at the tire and evidence suggested it was indeed a road hazard.

Something we can't do via the internet..

Ya I haven't gotten to do any off roading in my new Tacoma yet, so I may chalk the tire up as a loss and just buy some beefier upgrades sooner than expected.

The guy who repaired it said it looked like I had hit a small rock, less than an inch in diameter most likely, and that caused a small pin hole. From that pin hole it split in both directions directly towards the sidewall. Good Year doesn't warranty OEM installed products, and the stealership is going to fight it tooth and nail I guarantee you.

Replaced my 2005 windshield three times my 2011 twice. Not impressed with Tacoma windshields mine always looked like they were shot with rock salt when the light hit them right.

The windshields are soft. The wind picked up some sand (sand from trucks sanding roads for snow) and blew it into my truck driving at 30 miles an hour; now my windshield has hundreds of small pits. I'm hoping to get a bug deflector to help change the angle debris hits the windshield. Also hoping an aftermarket windshield will be better.

Mine came from the factory like that. think they used some kind of polish to hide it at the dealership. Showed up after the first couple washes.

I am about to get my second windshield replaced. The rocks that caused the cracks were TINY not even rocks really little BB sized pebbles. I drove a 2003 Frontier for 10 years and only got the windshield replaced once, it didn't even have any cracks just a few chips. I had rocks much bigger than the two that have caused these cracks bounce off that windshield.

When I got it replaced the first time (Beginning of Feb.) my insurance company said that they couldn't find anyone who had aftermarket windshields yet so they ordered a new one from Tacoma. Now that it's been a few months I'm really hoping that someone in the aftermarket is making them so I can hopefully get a higher quality one.

How much are the factory Tacoma windshields running? Just so I am prepared when I have to buy a new one.

I thought I read the new glass was acoustic glass to help with sound deadening, might contribute to the issue.

    Bug Deflector is helping somewhat.

Last night I swatted a spider crawling on the windshield and it caused a crack spanning all directions across the driver's side. It was a very light tap, enough to kill the spider but not enough to squish it flat. The spider fell on the dash almost fully intact, with the legs curled in dead spider fashion. I guess my pimp hand is too strong for the taco to comprehend. :p Today is a very cold snowy day in Denver and in 20 minutes I watched the crack continue to grow. I've had the truck just over a year. Glad and very sad to hear this is not an isolated issue. This is a huge safety concern with this faulty windshield, not to mention completely annoying with how much we spent on the new gen3 :( 20170123_185655.jpg

I haven't gotten any chips or cracks yet, but I did somehow get a scratch on my windshield... About 3 inches long, not very deep but I can feel it with my fingernail. No clue where that might have come from!

Just replaced my windshield on my 2016 Tacoma. Cracked from drivers side all the way over to passengers side. Have no idea what caused it.

Side note anyone have howling noise coming from drivers side mirror when going 75-80mph? only riverside does it. Just thought it was weird, never had any other vehicles do it.

I have a 2017 model and I ended up replacing the front winshield within the second month of owning it. It probably had about 5000 miles on it. I do a lot of driving on the highway though.
