I think the ARB bumper looks good in the video, it doesn't look to large. The snorkel looks awesome too.

The way the headlights swoop back at an angle on the '16's, it gives the illusion that the bumper sticks out really far, but in reality, it's no longer than that of the '05-'15 trucks. The only thing that I dislike about the '16 is that the nose is so long that it creates this huge wasted space between the grille and the radiator, but if it were shorter, it would drastically change the styling of the truck, which is one of it's best features IMO. I think the DeMello, the CBI, and the Insain Fab addresses the fact that these trucks have a worse approach angle in the center of the truck better than "others" for that reason. They are tucked in tighter to the grille area than most, so if approach angle is important to you, than an ARB, FabFours, Expedition One, Metal Tech etc. may not be the right choice for you. To each his own priorities and opinion.

I really like the Relentless Fab Predator style plate bumper. I got to see it in person and it is incredibly stout and improves the approach angles while still mounting a full size winch. The Insain Fab one to me doesn't offer a whole lot of additional protection since it sits flush with the grill and the bumper in the lights.

Yeah anything thats hand built by a small shop is going to take a while. But the quality is worth it, I can't wait for my rock sliders to get done.

I got the Okay from the wife to get a new bumper. And am really liking the expedition one, with the single hoop. Was hoping I could get some insight into the build quality, and the install process.

I have not installed this bumper but have in the past without issues. Their products are built very well and are incredibly stout. You shouldn't go wrong with anything they build.

Thanks for the info. I have been burnt in the past when trying to get a custom bumper for my 2007 jk. So I'm a bit gun shy when it comes to ordering custom stuff from out of state.

I'd call them rather than order online just to be crystal clear about what options you want with the bumper. They're enthusiasts too and are very friendly.

I am in the same boat as you - wife gave the OK. Seem like a very heavy duty bumper, but maybe a bit too heavy. It was my number one choice until I made myself ok with cutting the stock bumper. Now I am torn between Pelfrey and CBIoffroad.

I am not a fan of the cut bumper look. I liked the aluminum of the Pelfrey, and the CBIoffroad one needs some kind front grill protection.
Also the expedition one bumper was one of the only one my wife though looked good.

My main issue with the previous bumper was it just didn't fit right and the guy who was making it lived 2 hours away so I was driving down there alot to have him tweak and re-build it. Didn't want that to happen with a builder who is in a different state.

They build lots of bumpers made on jigs to fit actual trucks, so unless your truck has discrepancies in frame to body measurements, i.e. a wreck or something, you really shouldn't have any problems at all as they build quantities of quality products. Geez, I feel like I should be getting paid for this LOL (hint hint). :D

CBI's bumper with the center grill protection option. Has my vote. Should be on my doorstep next week.

    Here is my .02...

I have had my taco on order since last December and it arrived in March I have had several in the past and love them.

I've been looking into all of the for mentioned bumper MFG's and a few others as well since December While all make there own individual claims. I have spoken/contacted the majority of them several times. I am a bit old school and when I get something I tend to get the very best I can afford and take care of it and have it last forever versus make quick decisions and relay solely on appearance. let face it the 3rd gen Tacoma's have some unique challenges since Toyota has decided to modify the front end with its heavily contorted urethane design.

My choices for many reasons went down o CBI and Demello, the two are very similar and once I got to that point, it was time to get to a granular level as far as design and materials. I like the hoop on the CBI but the angel of attack and all the upfront angles aren't for me. In my own research in this situation Demello was far more forward thinking in design, skeletal structure, as well as options. So now to proceed with figuring out the acquisition process.

this might be a dumb question, but do these types of bumpers affect safety in the event of a front crash? Aren't the original bumpers designed to collapse (and absorb impact)? Also, what about deployment of airbags?
