Poutine, hockey players, hot women, real beer, rye whisky, epic scenery, health care, the rest of the world doesn't despise us....and yes you can smoke pot virtually anywhere in Vancouver. Chronic has become more accepted than cigarettes. Ah, God bless Canada. The best place on earth. Hands down

^^ It is true you get supersized genitals as you move up in latitude, and down in celcius. We have thick blood.

We grow fur too, but that's a whole other story...

As an american who grew up on the Canadian border near Cornwall Ontario (I could see cornwall out my bedroom window) I was surprised to hear the name of the "winter wool hat" when I moved to North Carolina. We call it a Touque (pron. Tewk). As in, "hey come inside with that wet hair and put on your touque, it's 25 below outside."

I was confused when they asked me about my toboggan. That I was wearing. On my head. I laughed about it for months.

Toboggans are steel rail sleds, duh!

PS - last summer I spent a few evenings with both Tim Hus and Stompin Tom Connors... No foolin...

Montreal. Its got Old Montreal, and the city is amazing. Fireworks all summer long. Amazing clubs. Great food! Skiing is not too far away at either Mt Tremblant or at Jay Peak or Whiteface MT or Mt Sutton or like 50 other places. Also, they speak a bunch of languages- thats cool! Mt Royal, St Catharine street- so many great places. Great hockey. The city is scenic and vast. and also for dinner, you MUST GO HERE ---> http://www.altitude737.com/ but just once, or at least to take a picture.

    Toronto is boring! No offense.

Plus, you could do a day trip from montreal to the capitol and see parliament and skate the rideau canal. And in Ottawa there's an old insane asylum thats now a hostel- its great!!!

because we have universal health care and so alcohol and tabacco are heavily taxed and in some provinces like here in saskatchewan have many companies owned by the government like phone, power, gas and insurance

However people in Ontario pay 13% (gst & pst) and cant get decent health care, UI or workmens comp for genuine cases. Is it time for a tax revolt?

How about the HST, Harpers Stupid Tax. In BC our government is pro privatization, of everything, health, education, seniors care... Bullshit. they have been gradually cutting funding to all public services so they can say, hey look private health care is great. It will work much better, and we the government can keep our 80% pay raise. Its getting time to vote with a bullet in BC.

We, in Quebec, already pay 15% taxes.

For those who really want to see something great, Montreal isn't the place, Quebec City is. Montreal is ugly, dirty, without spirit. The best food, the best architecture, the best view, the best everything is in Quebec City, not Montreal. I'm sorry but Mtl isn't anywhere near being a great city.

As for the politics, I won't vote anything else than conservative, I can't vote for any party that wants to take away my rights.

Only when you don't walk around like a perfect, weak, modern, citizen.

Walk around in plain pants during a canadian winter and you'll grow fur on your legs.

I agree about the people, but southern BC in general is so sweet. The scenery and availability of outdoor touring places is hard to match.
