Went out to Otay today on my KLR, here are some more pics of the Rolled Taco. must have been a hell of a ride, good thing it stopped and didnt go any further down. Someone drew a smiley face on the hood too.
Damn.... Rolled tacos (the food kind) sounds good about now.

So they didn't get it towed out of there... I was wondering how they were going to do it with a regular old tow truck

Could you tell where they slid off the road and started rolling? Weird.

I saw some trampled bushes on the hill side and also some broken plastic pieces on the trail leading down. I think they started going down the trail (very Steep and rutted) rolled and came to a stop in the bushes.

Wow!!...I was out there on Sat morning/early afternoon. Didn't see this truck so maybe happened after I left. Hopefully no one was hurt very bad.

We had a great time running the trail, although I was wishing I had better tires in a couple of places. Went down one steep hill (near some large iron grates in the ground) and had trouble getting back up it only being 2WD. After a couple of attempts and a lot of air out of my tires, we made it up.

The cabs on the new trucks look like they hold up a little better with roll over compared to the freeway accidents you'd see :notsure:

Do insurance companies payout when a truck is totaled like this? Can't even imagine trying to explain this one lol!

Might depend on his policy or insurer. But hey that's what insurance is for right? we pay em enough money each year should be covered.

A lot more Kinetic forces at work when you are airborne at 60 mph as compared to 30 mph, and the force isn't multiplied in a linear form, more exponentially.
More or less, shit "gets real" a lot more quickly the faster you crash!! Haha

Ya, no shit huh. I bet since it was on an unincorporated road the insurance will try and weasel out of it! All I know for sure is I wouldnt want to be that guy!!

Crazy, that thing is absolutely totalled, gonna be some spare parts for sale pretty soon, keep an eye out in the classified section, lol!

Pretty sure that you have to disclose to insurance companies that the truck will be used for recreation and off road which jacks your rates. They want mad details and if the police wrote a report saying it was in the middle of nowhere on a pole line rd I can't imagine them stepping right up to pay 40k for a new truck. I think my insurance co wanted to know if any mods were done and the cost of them so they can raise rates if it gets ripped off or totaled. I don't let them know and will just take the hit as I am sure the rates would be raised about 100 bucks a month...which adds up quick!

The rolled taco is gone. I went out to otay to test some parts on my bike, apparently they got the truck out somehow.

Apparently my top box mount doesn't like going down dirt/gravel roads.

How do you like the bike? I've been thinking my R1100RT could be replaced by a GS...just wasn't sure if I stayed big and got the 1200, or dropped down to the 800.

I never wanted to be a BMW guy, and for years have found reasons to not like them... but to be honest I love the GS. I previously owned a multistrada 1200 and a Super Tenere, I ended up replacing both of them with the BMW. I would never in a million years ride the ducati offroad, and the tenere was just kind of boring and the ergos didn't fit me at all. For the 800/1200 debate, it depends on your intended use. I like the big GS/super tenere sized bikes because they are super comfortable for long rides, yet still surprisingly capable off road. They're definitely not nimble, but will handle most any unpaved road just fine. The F800GS/ktm 900/new honda AT are better in the dirt thanks to their 21/18" wheelset and longer suspension travel, but they sacrifice on-road performance and comfort for better manners offroad. I have a DRZ400 for more aggressive off-roading, so I am fine compromising dirt-worthiness for comfort in my daily/long trip bike.
