If you or anyone else, for that matter, make a day trip to O'side over the weekend or summer months!!!

I know it's far, but someday, you MUST make a trip to Oceanside and go eat at the Harbor Fish n Chips!!! Their fish tacos are HUGE and are AWESOME tasting, clam chowder is really good, sampler plates are really good, etc!!! Definitely a well known spot for the locals (me included, my old stomping grounds, LOL)!!! To get to free parking at the Harbor:

    1) as you're driving I5 South take the Harbor Dr exit
    2) at the t-intersection light, go STRAIGHT and up and over the little hill that veers left and then right around that gas station
    3) the I5 will be on your left and a few shops on your right... BEFORE going over the bridge, take the road on the right!!!
    4) follow that road and go left down the hill and there is free parking there at the bottom!!! It's a HUGE parking lot as well!!!
    5) when you park, take the little car\pedestrian tunnel that is underneath the railroad tracks
    6) cross the street and go to the shops on the left
    7) Harbor Fish n Chips is on the left side about 75-90yds down from the street that you just crossed

There are ALL kinds of little shops to check out, the harbor itself, the little picnic spot areas around the Harbor, the beach, etc. If you start walking south over the long bridge that crosses the San Luis Rey river, you will see the dark brown condos, go there and follow the road and at the stop sign, take a right and down towards the strand. As you start heading south along the strand, you will see the Oceanside pier. Over there, are lots of open-air type restaurants\bars. There is virtually NO FREE parking over in that area, ALTHOUGH, if you know the area like I do and don't mind a LITTLE bit of walking (i.e. about a 1/4mi south from the pier) you can find free street parking, pretty much residential, near the bus station, but even then you will find meters here and there!!! Just gotta know where to look :fistbump:

BTW, if you don't !eave from the OC area by about 8:30-9am on the weekends to go south on the 5fwy, it's gonna be a LONNNNNNNNNNNNG F'N DAY people, just to get there, LOL!!! Especially, during summer, LOL!!! You have been warned!!!

Oh yeah, Harbor Fish n Chips opens at 10am on the weekends, LOL!!! Can you tell I "stalk" the place, LOL!!!

Hope ALL enjoy and have a good time with family and kids!!!:fistbump:

Awh thanks, yeah I've been O-side a few times.
I'll definitely check that place out! I love clam chowder, esp with a good beer.
