There's a lot of cult like owners on here.

Not sure why, it's just a truck lol.

So what response should the OP have expected? He sold a truck from a brand well known for reliability and durability over a few minor issues that seem to be easily fixable, and did so at a huge loss. And then bought a more expensive vehicle with one of the worst reliability ratings out there. Then he came to post about it to a bunch of people who are mostly happy with their trucks. Should he have expected a bunch of congratulatory posts? Should he have been expecting people to ask for pictures of the new Jeep on a forum titled TACOMAworld.com?

I am always amused by the threads where somebody posts a thread trashing their Tacoma and Toyota in general here, and then others appear shocked that "fan boys" aren't warmly receptive to their rant. Of course there are fan boys here...it is an entire website dedicated to one model of pickup truck!

Cult like owners ? Seriously ?

Sticking with a product that gives reliable service for years and years is common sense to me, however, it seems that in 2016 common sense is becoming more and more rare.:notsure:

It really is down to what you want. At one time I wanted a Baja race car. After 4 motors and 11 transaxle's, I had enough. Raced it, abused it, and dumped a ton of money into this piece of junk. Had a blast with it, sold it and moved into Jeeps and FJ40s. The Toyota brand has still been the most reliable toys I have ever had. Nuff said.

I traded my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for a 2016 Tacoma Limited and each has its own issues and positive attributes. The Pentastar motor in the Jeep seemed to have much more power, torque, and fuel economy. This might also be attributed to the 8 speed transmission in the Jeep that seemed very well matched to the engine. The interior of the Jeep was higher quality as well and overall much more comfortable to drive long distances. Power seats are a good thing on a $40K vehicle. On the downside, I got a lot of recall notices on the Jeep... My guess is approximately 10 in a 2 year period.

I needed a mid size truck and the Tacoma fit the bill for me but I wasn't unhappy with the GJC.. just wish it had a truck bed. :)

I'm referring to the guy that said he regularly gets angry at any post that says negative things about Tacomas.

I could see if he was an engineer that designed the part/feature of the truck that was being questioned.

But a consumer that just walked in and bought the damn thing getting his panties in a wad because somebody said something mean about a material thing? C'mon now.

Exactly my biggest issue with the 3rd gen section. Too quick to get defensive even if they are wrong. Eh carry on.

Ya I love all the tacomas, and each gen has its issues, but I get frustrated with the newbs that get super defensive when the facts are presented or observations are made, I think thats why it gets so out of hand most of the times in the 3rd gen section. Trust me in 2020 I'll be in a 3rd gen likely too, or a diesel F250 maybe, lol.

I've been in for 7 years now and am starting my doctorate and looking at getting out, just cant handle any more AF "kool aid". It's a mess since your day and age. My brother and sister in law are in SC, love that area too, just not a fan of the NE or the people here.

Nothing is perfect, none trucks is reliable some just seem last a bit longer than others, you get what you like, you rid the one you don't we human have issues of our owns not the truck itself.
Go to the junkyards look around and you decide which vehicle pile up more and which pile less than you know which brands last longer.

Ironically enough, my wife has a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland that we purchased a month before I got the Tacoma. Her's is much "nicer" on the inside (8" screen, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front and rear seats, power seats, panoramic moon roof etc.) - but hers has already been in the shop once & my truck is averaging better gas mileage and has became the vehicle of choice for our trips - unless its a lengthy trip with a lot of luggage as my back seat has limited space compared to her back seats and rear storage. If/when I get a tonneau cover I expect the Tacoma to overtake Overland for all trips though.

Did you have one of these to go along with the Baja Bug?

To this DAY I regret selling our '67 Kombi. Surprisingly good offroader and damn good camper.

For Gen3's, they're woefully expensive (to me) for what you get. It's a recycled Gen2 with an engine that the only reason it makes more HP is because it rev's higher with the same torque. And doesn't appear to get better MPG's with the heavier truck.

Walt untill that jeep is in the shop , and if you get mad at this one also and trade it in , wait and see that loss ! Toyota has the best resale and I think jeep Cherokee has the worst. Better start saving now.

We had 3 buses, lived in a red and white microbus for 9 months, me and the Wife would travel all over the place. Chased the Greatful Dead, and lived where ever we wanted. Had to grow up, get a real job, had kids, and buy Toys. Don't regret any POS vehicle I bought. It was what I wanted. Have always returned back to Toyota. Looking for a 1st Gen to build now. Life is good.

My 2015 has a bad leaf spring problem causeing them to break, but i would never touch a Chrysler or GM product, because of their history with relaiability, and loads of problems they have now.

All vehicles have good and bad. Personally I buy GM and Jeeps when I want them. Here is a couple of pics. We use the Suburban as a family/Tow rig for our Jeep junk. When something fails, just fix it. They both have well over 100K on them. Again, it's what I wanted. And yes, I am currently repairing the Big White Beast.
