Aha exactly. Luckily my LPO and Chief at the time were old school, and kept everything in-house. Once I got sentenced to jail though, everyone in my chain of command knew, and they thought it was effin hilarious that I went to jail. All in all, a great life lesson learned

Last time I got pulled over I was doing 120 on the interstate in my tacoma, still had some throttle left.

Yeah right, I MIGHT be able to get a ticket in a 50 mph zone, and that's if it's downhill with a tailwind. And I get a 2 mile run at it.

Do veteran plates amount to anything as far as catching a break? Not talking about total jackass stuff like a dui, just something minor.

Catching a "break" has a very subjective component to it - See Buddy's post. But, generally the answer is no.

That's what everyone says, but I was on a 13 mile toll bridhe, in between tolls, heading AWAY from home. It most definitely wouldn't have worked andjust resulted in much worse things.

Coming from sports cars ('90 331 fox body, 98 Cobra)... driving my Tacoma I don't even feel like speeding. It's like I know its not fast so I don't even bother.

    This

Ain't always fair or right but the officer rarely already decides to ticket you before he first speaks to you..so what your vehicle says about you may factor in. A relative who is on the LAPD said to me "you can use your vehicle as a statement of opinions or to speed and to combine the 2 usually won't go well".

Love or hate them police do have a dangerous and hard job. The more you put them at ease the better your chances of a warning in most cases. The more you upset or make them cringe, the worse your chances.

I got stopped for 20-30 min in my old truck..Chevy colorado, stock and I knew my area so I damn sure watched the speed. The truck had a few sticckers of metal bands in the back window, it was almost midnight, I was wearing a leather jacket and my pasadena napalm Division hat. I shut the engine off, left lights on, turned on the inside lights and put my hands up high on the wheel. He took my information and returned to his car. He returned 10 min later and asked "how much have you had to drink?". I answered 2 sodas and a water. "Where are you coming from? And I gave the name of the bar I was at. He then told me he smelled booze on me and that I was lying. I told him I'd been sober 10 yrs and was playing in the dart league I run. He returned to his car. 15 min later comes back and tells me to fix my plate light. I asked "which side?". He yelled "the plate light like I just said!!". I told him there is one on each side and I just replaced the left one. He told me to come to the back of the truck and I swore I'd be getting arrested. He looked to see they were both functioning, handed me my paperwork and told me go the f home. Yeah...

Been stopped 3 times in the Tacoma all in my town. 44 in 30, he let me go fast as I was going to a wake.

Other 2 were using my PIAA lights. Warning both times

My town is small but has big city problems but lucky for me i know every single cop they dont bother to pull me over anymore unless there trying to be a dick. Most of them are cool guys but there is a few bad apples.

I was pulled over for speeding in my Tacoma. officer asked me why I was speeding. I told him I was late for work. he asked me what I did for a living and I told him. He said thank you and have a good day just slow down. i said yes sir and we parted our separate ways.

Only 6 or 7 pullovers, 4 tickets, 3 speeding. None in the Tacoma. Likely never will be unless on some underrated side street.

2 of the speeding involved vehicles with big motors, light bodies, rollbars and sticky tires. There was no discussion; actually one was an arrest. But there was also no imminent danger, just excessive speed.

While I'm not, and never have been, reckless, I certainly was eligible for much more than I have been penalized for over the years. All this 'outlaw' street racing we see on these reality TV shows? Pikers. We were doing that crap, including closing down roads (for safety of course) 45 years ago.

Agreed, the exception is when patrol officers are detailed to specific traffic control assignments (an area where drivers consistently exceed the posted speed limit, where the department has received complaints from residents in the area - not to be confused with "speed traps") 5 mph + over WILL get you a ticket.

I've always had a heavy foot, now with the Taco it seems to be more so but I've only had her for about a month so we will see.

    Yes.....
    1. Pulled over for "speeding" going 60 in a 45. I floored it to beat the light. First ticket ever.

    2. Did not come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Verbal warning.

3.Going 34, yes 34.... in a 30. Verbal warning for "speeding" and having a smoked cover on my plates.

    4. Speeding, going 92 in a 75....didn't help that it was a state trooper. First and only trooper ticket.
