MSS aren't the lightest, but they're pretty solid! Have used one for over a decade

Hell yeah. I went to the one by me today and picked up a bunch of stove fuel canisters, a new big fat guy director's chair, and a replacement pair of Merrell Moab Ventilators in my size (last one). It's still only 10% off on everything and a few things in clearance are 30% off. The store was already about 25% empty though. Still lots of stuff in there, but the clothes were picked through pretty thoroughly. Good selection of backpacking gear, awnings, tents, fishing stuff, climbing gear, shoes, etc at the one on Lake Pleasant Pkwy and Happy Valley.

Best car camping bags you can get. I use my patrol bag religiously all summer and it compacts down really small for backpacking and does the job down to about 35 degrees if you wear a layer to bed.

How many of you guys/gals have moved over to backpacking quilts? My north face bag is finally due to be replaced, and I'm considering going the quilt route rather than a mummy bag.

I have both bags and quilts. Love them both equally.

I should add that I'm looking for a 3 season setup, down, and light as it will be my ultralight bag. For my cold weather luxury/truck camping nothing can top my heavyweight issued bag, yet.

Love my hammock, but it's hard to find trees in the Cairngorms and Lake District.

Yea! I use a bag in my hammock too. It's really not that difficult to manage.

For bags, I love Montbell Huggers. Mummy shaped but the stitching is elastic so it conforms to you but you can move around inside it without it feeling like a straight jacket.

Seems like the latest iteration is substantially less stretchy than when they became famous for that feature.

Enlightened Equipment based out of MN makes custom to-order quilts. Check out the Relevation as it fits your bill. Mine only weighs 13.5 oz.

I've noticed this too between my first bag I got in 2005 and my latest in 2014.
