Clutch life on 2nd Gen 6 spd

Any of u guys have a shell on your truck? Mine is an xcab and the shell doesn't fit all the way up snug to the cab when I use the rails on the bed. I guess I have to just use the ones by the tailgate instead of both? Ideas?

 

... It means 5th gear is direct drive.

 

The post I quoted states that 4th is direct drive, then the highlighted portion states that 5th is direct drive. Hence "wut".

 

I just reread the post I quoted. Nevermind. My reading comprehension is lacking this evening.

 

The shell shouldn't be snug to your cab. It needs to be able to flex with your bed.

 

Thx, D. Haha, of course. I'm not saying I want it to touch the cab. I'm saying I would like it to line up with the bed, which it does not. Perhaps I need to be more precise with my verbiage.
I have seen this same issue on many a tacoma (back of shell hanging out over the tailgate, by an inch or so). However, I have also seen many with the shell lining up flush with the bed.
I think it has something to do with the sliding shell clamps.
Maybe there is a forum for this same issue but I am having a tough time using the search field.

 

What kind of shell do you have? My clamps bolt into inserts that you can move wherever you likeon the bed rail tracks.
