Ceiling Rifle Mount

I had wanted to get a rifle mount on the ceiling of my DC, but with a sunroof I haven't found one that looked like it would work.

Then I saw the hooks for hanging clothes/jackets, I have yet to try to take them off to see if I could use the holes to fabricate a mount off of them, has anyone tried this?

 

All you have to do to take those off (atleast for a 2nd gen) is to turn them and pull them off. They are mounted to the headliner, not the metal roof, so I wouldn't trust a roughly 8 pound rifle up being up there. I have been thinking about something similar for a while.

 

Yeah, I'm not too sure what you could actually attach to behind the headliner that's strong enough to secure a rifle, especially in the case of an accident. I wouldn't want that shit to fly off! You're going to have to get creative, but I'm curious to see where this goes

 

You thought about the rear grab handles?
Santa Cruz might have something that would work with a little tweaking.

I hadn't considered the grab handles because the headliner from the sunroof comes still blocks it a little, but those spacers look perfect. Do you know who sells that set up?

 

THAT is sick! Need one for my rifles and/or 12ga. Of course, gotta be careful in NY with which rifle you decide to leave the house with

I found out this was a custom made mount using Santa Cruz mount parts. The guy made it for his Silverado.

I may try to make something custom like this.
