I have 10K on my 2016 Double Cab limited. It has been flawless. It was probably in the first 500 off the assembly line when they first made them. I love the truck. I drive through a 3ft deep swamp almost every day. It has been lifted and has some add ons. The ECT button is incredible, almost like it has some sort of turbo, stretches the shift point for high rpm's. I believe it just demands fuel from both sides of the new Atkinson. I have towed a 6500 lb trailer over 500 miles without a whimper. Toyota is the best by far. My 2013 Land Cruiser is also proof that their off road engineers are second to none. Just a note on you cold feet... at least your buying a truck that holds its value better than any other vehicle period.

It's totally normal to have cold feet about a big purchase! I love my Tacoma and haven't had too many problems with it, but like others have said: reading through the forum makes it seem like everyone has a problem, but typically people who *don't* have problems aren't the ones posting topics on the maintenance threads, so just keep that in mind :) If you're still trying to decide I found this article about pros and cons of having a new car. I think the biggest pro is that new car smell. So, If I were you, I would be excited about my new truck!

Yea I'm still excited to get one. And this is the first time my wife approved me on buying anything because she likes Toyota. We'll see how it turns out in 8 weeks when i get my truck.

    Mostly stuff I built.
Ordered mine in October, brought it home in April. Just rolled over 1k miles on it. Runs like a scalded dog, the manual transmission shifts like a dream, the ride is smooth, quite, comfortable interior with great ergonomics and a very happy camper at the helm. Love the truck!

Good luck OP, I feel you're excitement like I felt mine when I got the call that it was sitting in the lot waiting for me to drive it off.

IMO needing to grease a u joint or adding some fluid is a ridiculous reason not to buy a vehicle. However, if you drive the truck and you don't like and can't live with the way it shifts, don't buy it and expect it to magically perform different after you drive off the lot.

Sorry OP, have to hijack this a moment and say hi to Judy  from Vermont. Seeing where your from brought back memories of
my childhood. Yup, another Canadian shopper from across the border. Mom dragged me down there all the time.

Ok, back to the new purchase...

If you are scared, buy a dog and put him the back seat of your new 2016 DCSB OR. You will all be happy. Seriously though you won't be disappointed.

Really I was a little apprehensive also but if you really read who is posting what you will see that there are some real problems but they are blown way out of proportion by people who don't even own a 3rd gen. Lots of good information here but a lot of misinformation also.

    Every vehicle has its problems.

    Peace!

Op, it's probably already been said here, but keep in mind that people who are happy rarely post info about being happy... Unhappy people always post about how pissed they are. You're seeing a huge imbalance of opinion.

Well if your original post was meant to garner opinions, you got them. A few comments.
You cannot (easily) check the tranny fluid since there is no dipstick and the plug to do so is not easy to access either. I agree with the poster to insist they check the fluid and grease the U-joints before you sign the deal or take delivery. I absolutely love my truck and only had low fluid, which the dealer quickly corrected.

I belong to several (classic car) forums and I must admit, there are more trolls on here than any other. That's the beauty of the ignore feature.

Look, if you like the truck, buy it and don't allow a few whiners to dissuade you

I've been driving Toyotas for 30 years and have loved every one I've owned. I didn't know I was having problems and supposed to worry about them til I started reading posts on Tacoma World..... :smash:

I still don't have any problems, still very happy with my purchase and how the truck drives.

To the OP, get off the internet and enjoy your truck when it gets here. Once you start driving it you can decide for yourself how reliable or problematic it is and if you have issues and need to get something fixed, that's what the warranty is for.
