In manly Trump-like straight talk, bull bars are for soccer moms driving girly 'off road like' vehicles. They are both ugly and scream poseur or mall crawler.

They are also damage multipliers when you actually whack something.

So my recommendation is be a man, and 'don't'.

To be socially proper or I suppose politically correct, I'll add it's your vehicle, do what you want. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks!

So my modified recommendation is don't, unless you really want to. :D

Installed mine last night. I left the skid plate part off and just used the tube.

^Is that made specifically for the 3rd gen? It sticks out way to far (or could be just the pic).

Yes. There's some adjustment, if I take off the license plate mount it could be moved higher and closer.

Yup. Not to be negative but with the front departure angle design of our 3rd gen s I hope a company re designs a bull bar for a more snug look.

Yeah, here's a couple of side shots. You can see that it's pretty well level now, if you move it up any it'll start to curl back in towards the grill. I think there's maybe 1/8 - 1/4 inch it would adjust straight back if the license plate wasn't in the way.

You won't find much love for bull bars on this site lol. I have one on my '04 but it came with it, only reason I'm planning on removing it is because they aren't great for off roading and I plan on getting an ARB bumper soon. Aesthetically, I think they look fine.

Had one on my 2010 slipped on a little ice and hit the back of a Rav 4 at about 7MPH. Caved right into the bumper going into the radiator, damaging both headlights. Broke the tabs on the grill from pushing it up into the hood, and caused a buckle in the hood. And I believe once they got it all apart it had caused some damage to the radiator. So as stated above it is quite the damage multiplier, and just a place most people put lights.

I think if someone made one that was as functional as a full plate bumper, more folks would entertain the idea. Unfortunately, to do that, you'd have to cut holes in your current bumper to add upper support (so it DOESN'T go through the grill upon impact). But if one were available that offered a covered winch mount and upper supports to the frame behind the bumper, I might be interested. But obviously the install for something like that wouldn't be a straight-forward bolt-on. And like Unchained said above - they do make a convenient place to mount lights. I've got nothing against them, some look really nice (the Avids mentioned above are pretty cool, actually).

Ha, that's a misnomer if I've ever heard.

Back to bullbars. To each his own. I'm not a fan of bull bars but I doubt the OP really cares about your straight talk.
