so I have a 2012 Tacoma, it already has a wiring harness installed 4pin. and I'm wondering if any one has installed / changed it over to 7flat, as I have a tent trailer which requires 7flat. I also need brake controller installed as well. I have been n able to find a video on how to install one but no luck on 7flat.

Never heard of a 7flat on a tent trailer. Try etrailer.com as they specialize in that sort of thing and can sell you what you might need. They have never lead me wrong.

I assume you mean 7 way flat pin round connector aka 7 way blade.

@Skippytitts , this sounds like what you want. If you don't have the factory tow package, you'll have to wire the brake controller all the way back to the plug shown above. If you have the factory tow package, there will be a wiring harness you can just plug into. I don't have the factory package or a brake controller, so I can't provide much more help.

Yes sorry. 7 way blade. I dont have the tow package, but i watch the video on youtube on how to install the brake controller. I do have the plug under my dash on the driver side. I will be dropping by the toyota dealership this week after work to get the proper info i need. But any help here would be appreciated

Word of advice to not change anything on your trailer. That way if some one else uses it then it will still be standard. Have seen many cases, at campgrounds, where people wonder why their trailer lights or brakes do not work when they say the vehicle is wired "correctly".
