Well guys this is my first post and first "wreck". I've backed into a pole before at a gas station but never another vehicle accident.
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg This is my truck (Tacoma) and my dads (Dodge). He was hooked up to one of our boats behind me not in his normal parking spot and I just hopped in my truck and backed up not thinking about it. I have a backup camera but didn't even look. A split second before impact I thought, "oh crap dads behind me" and then bang. Couldn't pull forward cause ball hitch is jammed in his rim. His bumper looks like it's dented in pretty bad but from what I can tell no real damage to the Taco. Tacoma Power (I haven't actually separated them yet as dad told me to wait till he got home). I'll update when they are separated. Fingers Crossed!

So, how forgiving is your dad? Lol.

edit: just saw your last post, mine would probably react the same. A slap upside the head and he'd hold out his hand for my credit card :smack:

Lol shit happens. Funny story: my mom ran the side of her Ford Fusion down the rear fender of my dad's 1st gen. Her front and rear doors were shredded and her side mirror basically exploded. The side mirror turning to shrapnel was her first clue in to what she had just done. Needless to say my dad was furious but his 1st gen took it like a fucking champ. The damage is there but it's only a few ripples/dents the size of quarters compared to her car.

Thanks for the welcome and hopefully very. Pretty sure I'll be working all summer to pay for it but it's nothing a few thousand dollars can't fix, right? Guess Ima have to start looking behind me! :fingerscrossed::help:

My mother move a bit forward instead of a bit reverse many years ago, slightly crunched my left tailight assy. We had the same insurance company, (Nationwide, to name names), they cancelled us both. So, for the price of a taillight, they lost two customers. Damned bean counters.

Yea that's what I tried to do at first after the suggestion from a neighbor. But the pin seems to be angled in there somehow so got a hammer and tried to straighten it out but no luck. Just gonna wait on pop to get home before I mess up something else.

Option 2; can you jack his truck up and remove the wheel?

Gonna be real interesting. And something tells me he's only gonna be more mad when we do get them apart:ballchain:(they didn't have a emoji for pulling two trucks apart, so I figured this was the closest thing:))

Worst case scenario, unbolt your entire hitch from the truck and see if that gives you enough ability to simply maneuver the hitch ball on out.

The pin is normally bent on one end - remove the hitch pin clip from the opposite end and drive it out. Err, let Pops do that, best respect his wishes for you to wait 'til he's home at this point. You don't want to do something to make him mad. :)

:thumbsup:Boo-yah! Trucks are officially disconnected! Dodge took as much damage as expected but Tacoma came through like a champ! image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg We ended up not being able to drive the pin through as it was jammed in so tight and dad did things hard way and just gunned my truck forward and tore his rim from his truck. Guess hardheadedness runs in the family.

Anyway Tacoma only has one long dent in the bumper, and it's so even throughout that side of the bumper that you really can't tell without looking for it... Dodge will need some solid repairs. Not really sure price range right now.

As I suspected, he was more mad when we got them separated. All in all had about a 30 minute talk and am good to go. I'm sure I'll have to help pay for repairs but no grounding!

And I can't park in my usual spot anymore.

Thanks guys! This has been quite an adventure and a great first post and great responsiveness in an awesome community.
