Yes, you can. Instead of cutting onto the hood with real knife, you can use knikeless tape so the hood never sees the blade in action :)

It's repositional vinyl wrap. It also has air release pattern on the bottom of the vinyl so it is virtually impossible to get any air bubbles. It is sticky adhesive.

From what I read on the 3M website, it should last few years easy although it depends on if you have it garaged all the time or if it's parked outside hitting the sun 24-7.

I am debating on whether I should wrap the grill with carbon fiber or just plasti-dip in flat black.

Agreed. I like the idea of the vinyl wrap, but CF is not my thing. I will say OP did a good job of laying down correctly.

I think it looks stupid and is a waste of money. Even when someone does that on a high end car where it is somewhat acceptable to do so (Audi, BMW, etc), it still comes off as tacky. You aren't fooling anyone into thinking you have a carbon fiber hood, and even if you did, what exactly would be the point?

(hey you asked what we think :p)

I want to do this on my hood, not for the look but to avoid glare with a roof top light bar. Those things glare so bad off the hood, I'm going to do a flat black on the hood to help with glare.

It wouldn't be a bad thing to line the front edge of the hood with if you have a black truck to protect from rock chips. I dislike the bug shield look.
