Haha I completely forgot that was a thing. Guess thats what happens when you're stationed where the average low is 79 degrees.

I'm hoping to follow your route, I'd love to work for CAT back home in San Diego. I was hoping to get on a cutter after boot camp and a-school but I've got back to back stations lol working on little Detroit's isn't cutting it for me...

Working on "SCREAMING DEMANS" isn't so bad...Good experience, if you can, try and get stationed on a buoy tender if you are interested in Caterpillars. They have 3608's - 3412's - 3508's and decent switch gear. That's why I was hired at Cat, I was an EM working on the commissioning crew for the ida lewis class and the keeper class buoy tenders. I was experienced in Cat power generation. I was hired as a Field Service Technician in the Power Systems Division. Been with Cat for 17 years and love it. Once my tour was up in Newport, I was going to be stationed on one of the Class ships. Cat offered me a great job that nobody could refuse. I was discharged on a Friday 22Apr99, Saturday morning a Cat Service Van was delivered to my drive way, I loaded it up with my tools and reported to work Monday morning 25Apr99. Here at Cat, you really work on everything, not just Cat. It's been lots of fun. Good Luck to you, Hope you achieve what you are set out for.

That's the real truth. That and, 'visit people, drink their coffee, and tell them they're wrong'.

I'm an engineer at heart. Walked out of boot as a FA and spent my time in Main Prop on the Boutwell. Decided to go ET and ended up in Kodiak at quite possibly the best job I've ever had. We spent days out in the antenna field building and climbing towers. When we weren't, we were playing hearts or doing "antenna rounds" on 4 wheelers. Used line trucks, ditch witches, ATV's dozed and a snow cat. Decided to change rates and go TT cause I'm a cable pulling, fiber terminating, tower monkey. Do not like the direction I was forced to take after JRR and keep thinking I should have just gone MK.
