Think I paid around $1,200 for 5 tires and then $60 locally for install.

When I had tires from tread depot shipped to a "suggested shop" or whatever is says, they shop charged me like $28 PER TIRE to mount them. They said "Oh you didn't buy these here so we can't give you the normal price."

Which is not tread depot's fault and I will use them again in the future. Just thought I would rant a little bit.

Every place is different. I shipped my tires to work. They show up on a freight truck (semi). Toyota dealer put them on for me!

Anybody run into sidewall issues with the MAXX? I have had the tires for 4 months and am not a hardcore wheeler. But this past weekend was doing a little offroading and put a gash in the sidewall. Which it is now leaking air. I am a little bummed out because the reason I bought these was because I thought they were supposed to be more robust than the Duratrecs.

Sorry to hear that.. to be honest they are suppose to be very tough. I have beat the hell out of mine with no issues. I would think it may be a manufacturing issue. Anytime something is mass produced its bound to have a few bad eggs. I would call my tire guy or Cooper themselves to see if they can exchange you a new tire. Depending how long you've had them and the nature of the tare.

    2 week old tire sadly:
    image.jpg

Local Cooper rep refused to cover it citing "road impact", went through the process of going over him to the next guy in line and still waiting to hear back. They said it might take up to 2 months to hear anything.

Good luck. Keep fighting the good fight!

I had the same thing happen on a tire years ago. I took it up with the tire shop that I purchased the tires from, they swapped out all four for new.

I ended up purchasing online (found the best price at $70 less per tire so it was worth it), so I knew I'd be sacrificing a little customer service. Called the online store distributor who sends me to one of their local tire shops to get "evaluated" and they can send me a new tire. Guy at the tire shop says he has no idea what I'm talking about and just wants to sell me a new tire. I tell him that his store is a vendor for the online site. I get one of these: o_O Call the guy from the site- hand the phone to the tire guy. Tire guy puts him on hold to take a call on the landline and site guy hangs up. Call the site guy back and he says it's fine, but he doesn't warranty Coopers and I would have to go directly through Cooper or through one of their authorized dealers. Dude gives me a couple addresses. I go to a new tire shop and they tell me that they've never warrantied Coopers before so they don't know how to do it. They take the tire and say they'll order me a new one while they sort it out. I provide purchase info as best I can and the new guy tells me that he "might" be able to get me on a new tire within a week or two. All this without knowing at the time if Cooper will warranty the tire. Asks if I went off-road or hit anything. "Of course not! It's a new truck I don't want to get it dirty!" :D Ultimately if I have to eat it, it's not a big deal, but still crappy...

Geez. All of our hype before on these going on etc. I hope I don't run into the same thing. Looks like that spare can't come soon enough now.

I'd keep fighting. All the hype on the Internet, even directly from Cooper about the sidewalls on these things should be enough to make them replace it

    Anyone read this article?

    http://backcountryjournal.blogspot.com/2014/06/cooper-st-maxx-review.html

I bought the tires, which should be mounted and ready to go in about 10min when I am off work, but thought the article was interesting due to the high esteem these tires hold on this forum and others. Wasn't sure if the guy was a Duratrac "fan boy" as he touted it, but overall really the only review I could find online having negatives to where he wouldn't buy them again.

    thoughts??

I would trust multiple reviews from a variety of people then just one guy.
