These are all great points, especially with the amount of work you are doing to it. An easy fix some guys have done, however is to just run a bead down the back of each cam tab, it strengthens them a bit more so you can take a little harder hits and not flatted the tabs or wreck your alignment immediately. But yeah, if you are putting that much shit on your truck and plan on offroading, do the cam tab gussets...the money you spend now to get them done would be offset in a few months by the lack of alignments needed everytime you offroad/hit the mall.

Couple hours probably. You have to grind off the existing cam tabs and then weld the TC ones in place. Depends how fast of a grinder/welder your buddy is. You could probably help him out and start grinding yours off while he preps everything.

No need to grind off the old tabs, buy a spot weld drill bit kit and it will literally take just minutes to remove all 8 of the OE tab plates. These bits chew through a spot weld in 10 seconds :

thanks for the heads up on this! i assumed grinding the old tabs off would take just as long as welding the new ones on. mainly because im a huge fan of doing things the hardest way possible :frusty:

My opinion is do them now, you're already pulling the LCAs so it's not a whole lot of extra time now vs down the road when you have to redo labor.

ok yeah i feel ya, soooo im just going to ask, what are some things i should change from "stock valving" when ordering shocks? only extra weight is a dual battery right now, with no bumper in the near future. i primarily crawl do to the availability in these parts, but definitely love rallying up and down rough terrain . so i know best thing to do is decide on a vender and call them to figure out whats best for me, but i would love to make it seem like i kinda know what im talking about when i do!:D

Adding a flutter stack in the front and rear to soak up washboard.

Honestly, when you order shocks most good salespeople will ask you a few questions about yoir build and how you use it.

Call @Downsouth Motorsports and order all of your shocks through them. Ask for Micah, super chill guy that knows a scary amount of shit about shocks. He will ask you about your driving and off-roading and can probably get you " closest to the pin " with valving for your shock order. Be honest about your off roading, don't tell him your a rock crawler of all you do is cruise trails or don't say all you do is cruise trails when you really want to haul balls on gravel etc.

Yep. Dsm was awesome with my setup. For showing up and being ready to go, I've been damn happy the last year. And after a few changes and starting to drive faster, I've been talking to them about revalving when I rebuild them. Really good info and input. And awesome customer service.

Sorry it's taking so long to reply, I was underway and the updated wedsite won't load on gov computers. As for your question, I had the brackets unwelded, which was my only mistake. The only issue with the the 2.5, was part of the upper mount rubbed on the shock body, just grind the points flat.

So you're saying I won't have to un weld the mounts? And if you could possibly upload a photo from where you had to grind it down ( i'm a very visual person) it would be greatly appreciated thanks again man!

I don't know about unwelding the mounts. I will take a pic tomorrow and upload it.

Here is the pic. The front plate had what looked like fangs that was touching the shock body.

gah so jealous of the LCAs. I need to decide between the TC or DK LCAs. Not sure i can justify the $300 difference for TC LCAs. I am not even considering the non race versions because i personally dont like their LBJ adapter uniball piece.
