Hola! Looks like there will be a ton of us rolling around Bend that weekend. I'll be there from the 5th-8th.

As for backcountry camping near Bend it'll be a bit tough due to the sheer amount of snowfall. I was planning on getting on the water in the cascade lakes but the snowpack is still too much to get in there.

We'll be checking out the Badlands and the Painted Hills this time around.

    Hope to see ya around!

I was wondering how the snowpack was going to affect us around the Bend area, from what the google machine was telling me is that it can be quite hit and miss this time of year. The painted hills were on our list to visit for sure, just want to see as much as we can while there and put the truck and tent to good use. We'll probably be sticking close to Bend for the Saturday night as we probably won't be rolling in to CVT until Saturday afternoon.

We'll keep an eye out for you when we're touring around the area! Thanks for the heads up on the snow situation.

Moving to Bend soon need som advice

i guess this is a call for help haha, well I'll get it started.

I'm in Bend as we speak from so cal, up here checking out the area and seeing if me and the lady approve, so far so good. Is there any area of we should stay away from? What are the trails like up here? I'm into more hardcore rock crawling/a bit of overland type stuff. What are the laws up here when it comes to extremely modified trucks (I have a solid axle Tacoma that looks like an rc truck haha) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I don't think we have any laws on modified vehicles or at least they don't enforce them

Yeah I kind of noticed the lack of police enforcement around, good and bad I suppose. But when I drive my truck around where I live I get pulled over pretty quick for really dumb stuff like mud flaps/fender flares etc. I saw a jeep driving down the road with literally no exhaust earlier lol that wouldn't last long down in so cal.

    No problem.

There's a functional reason for that law up here. We use a lot of gravel on the roads. The last thing I want is rocks getting flung at high speed onto my windshield. ;)

I've seen tint enforced but that is usually just an excuse to pull someone over for suspicion.. Sometimes u will get a fix it ticket but very rarely.

I saw two jeeps with 37" tires stanced out and without any protection flaps or flares... Oregon is pretty lenient, atleast bend is.

Whatcha looking for? The mountains to the west (cascade range) have some good snow but, not so hot for lite wheeling. To the east is more desert (not like the Sahara), just less rain. Lots of nice areas to go rock hounding, hot springs, wild horses, fossils, ghost towns, ABANDONED homesteads- etc. Many photo ops.

Just looking for some advice to do some exploring off the beaten path. Would like to do some camping outside of RV lots and paved sites lol.... get out to do some hiking andplay with the camera a bit. Hotsprings, ghost towns and abandoned homesteads are definite interests if you could point me in the direction of some worth checking out it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks Willie..... nice cat glasses!
