Fear The Walking Dead

The human body is naturally buoyant. a dead body pretty much floats until either completely rotted away or eaten. That is one thing I never thought of before in a zombie apocalypse, zombies being washed ashore. So any idea of getting to an island and feeling like the threat is gone, has been turned upside down with this episode. And it makes sense too, the way it was presented.

 

Well that is disappointing...

I think they tried to explain where they were washing up from, but I didn't quite catch it. I did notice what appeared to be a tanker or cruise ship off the coast on the opening scene that was smoking. I figured they were from that but I think the dad said something about them coming from the mainland?

 

That I understand but Strand wanted to stop at a different cove and Travis insisted they went to this cove for radios from the Ranger Station. I understand why it happens the way it did in the show but I can't help but wonder what if. I'm always going to immerse myself in the show cause I have a different way of thinking.

 

It's kind of freaky, man. We could wipe out all of the walkers in a country, think we're all good until those at sea, whether cruise liners, oil liners, fishing boats, plane crashes, tsunami victims, whatever; could still wash up on to shore at any given time! That's about as bleak as it gets. Almost no end here.

 

I also liked how George, thinks it is Mother Nature infecting and killing humans. Nothing like an Earth Day message put in this episode.

 

I liked his course correction explanation too. Reminded me of the movie 'The Happening'

You are from SC, I would find a nice beach house on stilts and block the stairs. Problem solved.

 

I can't remember who said it on talking dead but it was basically, 'it's still early in the apocalypse and people are still being nice.' Everyone is used to TWD and how ricks crew will kill and steal over anything now. The first season or two of TWD Rick and them didn't do that, they have to evolve into what the world is now. By the end of season 2 and by season 3 I'm sure this group will be more up to speed on the new ways of the world IMO.

 

I liked the " at least we cured the climate crisis " line too haha

Zombies were floating all over the ocean in that story and they even got sucked into intake ports on submarines and would clog them up

 

Good point. I always keep all the different zombie worlds seperate though since they all have their own rules. I watch A Scout's Guide to Surviving a Zombie Apocolypse the other day (hilarious movie) and in that world animals were also affected by the disease. Same as all the Resident Evil games and movies. I'm glad that doesn't exist in TWD world.

 

Jeez, another hit for the cruise lines.

 

Had read that the show lost 1million viewers between ep1 to ep2. But it's still really high in numbers that it isn't a problem for AMC yet.

 

Strand is cold blooded! I wonder if that is all we will see of the characters from the flight?

Loved how Nick found out how he can camouflage himself from walkers. His character is the best.

Victor Strand

 

Yeah he is. I was pretty surprised he just cut them loose like that. I am enjoying Nick's character evolution. He is coming around in this world and he seems to be in the right frame of mind for it. He understands what needs to be done, but doesn't lose his sense of humor and humanity. He's going to be the reason why Ofelia survives, and Daniel will have to acknowledge him (and the rest of the Clark family).

Chris is still a dumb ass. That guy just has a death wish and it will cost him one day. Although now that he killed an actual live person, I wonder if he will start to turn darker over the course of his story arc.

Is was great to see the plane crash site. Now we got introduced to Alex, but she is a weird character. She is bending over backwards to keep this kid alive, all because of the guilt she felt from taking his mother's place, due to the stand-by tickets. At this point in time, who really gives a shit? She already killed people for his sake, which doesn't make her anymore endearing in my eyes. She's just trouble. Yeah, she has a survivors mentality and may be useful, but her bad judgment with caring for the kid and killing actual live people is not a redeeming quality. Now that Strand cut her loose, she'll probably seek payback in the future.

Overall, I thought it was another great episode.
