Has anyone here with a bed platform tried fitting a 255 tire underneath? 10" tall on it's side.. That would likely fit below wheel well height right?

2nd and 3rd gens have awesome ledges on each side just for this type of thing...use them! And yes this shit is more comfortable than my bedroom. 2x6s, 1/2" plywood, and two 1x12x6' common boards from HD that I had to rip, cheapest carpet from HD, couple mattresses collected from friends who moved away. Not anchored yet but I wheel this truck so I will be drilling the bed and installing little turnbuckles on each 2x6 end with large backing plates or washers under the bed. Plywood secured to 2x6s with 1/4x20 countersunk cap screws that sit flush and T-nuts on the bottom. Solid as a rock. Easy to remove but I leave it back there because it's been a week and I've already gotten wasted 20 miles from home and had to crash back there which was great.

Here's mine. Extended section for use with a dac canopy tent or folded up for canopy only use. I'd like to raise it up to fit taller items below, but the simplicity of removing the platform won me over. Two 2x4s spanning each bed notch underneath.

I wanted to build a system that only took up half of the bed. I also wanted to build a pullout table so we could cook easier on the tailgate. The legs are sturdy and hold the table nicely, I just wish i designed a better way to get them out and attached faster. Right now I just shove them in beside the pullout table.

It's removable. I just got back from camping this weekend. I will try and get some more photos as I'm getting things buttoned up from our trip.

    ^^ this

I built and rebuilt my platform 4 times in my last truck, each time solving problems that came up. I did a lot of thinking before building one for this truck. The extra rise in the topper gave me head room enough to fit the stuff I need under the bed - mostly the winch, recovery gear crate, and chainsaw.

Some of them. You can see I used the factory screws and added washers to the windows. I spent 12 nights back there last month.

I had curtain rods on my last cap. Might go with Velcro for this one. I only have one window on each side.
