Yep, both of mine failed in under two years. I noticed the new style with the grease zerk too. Hopefully that will give them more life.

Well none of those. When I shifted from F to R I had ping sound coming from the drive shaft and there was a lot of play in the bearing. So I assumed it was the bearing. When I replaced it, I found that the old bearing wasn't pressed on and the drive shaft was just floating in there. The old bearing was still ok. But I still changed it and torqued everything down the way it is suppose to. Tested the truck and the noise went away.

Moved a grill, chairs, and tables for my sister's baby shower. The one table had some big spider on them and they made their way under the bedliner, so I took it off to get them out and clean it.

    Before:

    After:
    0423161843.jpg

When the weather is warmer, I will hose it down and really clean it but this works for now.

    Only one spot of rust.
    0423161815.jpg

Not overly big. I'll probably bondo it or something.

And then I've got a question regarding rust prevention. A coworker suggests that, after I really clean the bed and let it dry, to coat it in auto trans fluid before putting the liner back on.. I've heard of this before, and he said he's used it as rust prevention for decades. Is there a reason to not do this?

For a while I've said my next biggest Tacoma mod would be a daily driver. Last Monday I bought my truck a baby brother.

Too me it is. Pressing in the bearings is just damn stupid hard. It took me way way to long haha I hated doing that mod. But it was worth it. I don't think Id ever do it again.

    0 degrees? What?

ECGS is worth every penny. Warrantied diffs?? Fuck yea.

Granted I did save a ton of money. But it cost me 3 weeks ish of time.

FWIW, I get the ping/ting sound every once in a while. So far it has only been a dry slip joint. 3 or 4 pumps of grease in there clears it up for a while. :notsure:

I'd toss the bedliner and get a spray on or do it yourself roll on bed liner. Way more durable and when you put stuff in the back it doesn't slide around like the plastic bedliner. The rubber spray on or roll on grips anything you put in the bed. Way better!

I should of also said when I put a load on the drive train. If you just shifted and heard a ping then maybe. But I would put it in reverse and press on the brake and gas at the same time to put stress on the drive shaft and hear a ping and then forward and hear the same. It was odd for sure. It's fixed for now.

I've had that friggen "ping" sound since I've owned the truck. No amount of grease in the slip joint has ever made it go away. :notsure:
I had high hopes of it going away after the lift, u-joints, center bearing, etc...
    but it's still there.
