I don't think the necklace will have anything to do with bringing Jon back. I think that was basically just a reveal that she is actually a few hundred years old. I think Melisandre will try and bring Jon back, like Thoros brought back Deric, but will ultimately fail. I think Jon comes back a different way

 

No question he comes back in some form. And the fact that they are keeping his body around makes me think there will be some kind of attempt to ressurrect him as is

 

Another interesting thing is that he hasn't turned into a wight from being dead. That must mean there is something special about him. Melisande's vision saw him fighting in Winterfell. Maybe that will come true and he will be Jon Stark, since Snow died.

Man, I was shocked at the Prince of Dorne's death! Since season 6 is past the books now, this was a big surprise. I look forward to seeing what happens with the kingdom of Dorne now, under Ellaria Sande and her daughters.

Nice to be caught up with Daeny's situation. At least they know who she really is now. I guess they're going to escort her to the place where the Khal's widows live, and not to Mereen. Maybe her dragon will get her before all that happens.

Sansa survives! (And Theon) Poor girl has been put through the wringer since season 1. Here's to hoping that she gets her just revenge now that she is relatively free.

 

I am so mad that we never got the "fire and blood" speech from the books out of Doran but I hope now that he is gone they cut down the Dorne stuff a lot. The sand snakes aren't my fav plot on the show lol. I love that Edd is going to get the wildlings. I hope they kill all the brothers and man the wall themselves. That would be neat. I think Melisandre will succeed at bringing Jon back. The necklace is like a magic focusing thing to keep her looking young but I think she will say a bunch of magicy words, kiss Jon, and bring him back to life but she will die doing it.

 

I think they'll burn his body to keep him from turning into a wight, and then he will pull a Daeny and rise up from the flames....as Jon Snow (Targaryan)

 

I love the Jon Snow Targaryan stuff....but I dont think Jon will be "fireproof". He has been burnt before when the wight attacked Lord Commander Mormont and Jon killed it with the lantern. I would think if Targ's were fireproof that wouldn't have happened. I love having no idea what is coming again. It is so fun to watch the show and be clueless lol

 

At the rate G.R.R Martin is writing, he is likely to be dead before he finishes book 7. First 3 books in 4 years and 5+ years per book since. I'm tired of waiting, let HBO finish it.

Also, if you liked Game of Thrones (A song of Ice and Fire), check out "Stormlight Archive" by Brandon Sanderson (2 of 3 books are already written - A Way of Kings and Words of Radiance). They are well written and have great depth/scope to the story.

 

Stephen King's Dark Tower series is off that chart...

 

I know the scene that happened but did you see any actual burn marks? I think it just freaked him out more than anything as it would anyone.

 

Started watching last year had to power through the first couple thanks to some alcohol. But since then I was hooked, knocked out season 3 in one day and then slowly watched season 4. First episode I watched "live" was last night! Can't wait for more

 

I'm not sure if they gave full on confirmation of the burn on the show but I know in the books he burns the hell out of his hand on that lantern. I have also heard that GRRM has stated in interviews that Dany not burning on Drogo's funeral pyre was more of a one time blood magic event than it was Targaryans being fireproof. More evidence would be that Viserys died by being burned by molten gold and he was a Targ for sure. They did seem to be implying on the show that they were fireproof though with the egg not burning Dany but burning her hand maiden immediately after. Also, Maester Aemon burned at the wall when he died but that could be that he was already dead at the time.

 

I agree. I don't think it has anything to do with being fire proof as much as it does being the opposition to the white walkers. "A song of fire and ice"...there's more than one thing representing the ice, so I think it will be more than Daeny and her dragons representing fire.

And yeah, Jon did moan and groan (in his head) in the books about his hand when he burnt it. Makes me think even more that this will be a one time thing like Daenerys and her dragon eggs.

Either way, those titties were disturbing.

 

George Martin was born in Sept 1948... given his "robust nature", 74 years of age seems rather elderly for him. Although, 74 doesn't seem near as old to me as it did 20 years ago.

 

So I know everyone is saying HBO is on it's own course now since the books aren't complete (and I haven't read any yet, I have them all, just need to get started) but didn't the show start doing stuff last season that didn't necessarily meld with the book?

Also, GRRM is a writer/EP for the show. Isn't it possible that in his mind he knows where the story goes for all the characters and how it ends? He just hasn't written it down yet. So the show could still be going where the books eventually will...

 

According to the producers, they have stated he has mapped out where the story will end and supposedly HBO is going to try to reach the same ending (possibly via different paths). Book 5 was absolutely a pain to read. First book of his I had to MAKE myself read. The last 200 pages of the 1600 total where great. The thing that irritates me about GRRM is the insistence of adding new POV characters in every book. Again, from the interviews GRRM has done, it appears HBO already knows the ending...

 

Yeah some of the story lines from the show will diverge from the book but for the most part they try to end them the same way at end of year. For example brienne and the hound never fight in the books but the hound does get (wounded/killed) at end of that story line so they ended the same. I liked the show version of that better personally. Getting. An EP credit doesn't mean much. GRRMs role on the show has decreased substantially since season 4 while he is finishing the next book

 

I hope to see the Hound again...
