I added a Load to the trailer plug to confuse the truck into thinking I'm towing something so it gives me more power down low and it worked very well. My question is does anyone think it will hurt the motor by running more than likely richer or will the sensors compensate?

    Thank you

I don't know, but I want to hear more about this. What did you use to create "load"?

I used a Brake light to create the load because technically that is what a trailer does but I plan on doing something different next weekend more than likely a brake light strip under the tailgate.

An electrical load is an electrical component or portion of a circuit that consumes electric power. This is opposed to a power source, such as a battery or generator, which produces power. In electric power circuits examples of loads are appliances and lights. The term may also refer to the power consumed by a circuit.

I don't know for sure if it us gaining you anything. Can't you just do the same thing by pressing the ECT button?

I don't own a '16, but am interested if there us any truth to this loading if trailer plug.

Opps, you have a manual, no ETC button.

    In for more info.

I am a little familiar with this load you have defined above. I'm not familiar with the load pertaining to the power mapping of this vehicle changing when plugging in a trailer light.

Nah, load on trailer plug has nothing to do with ECU engine control resolution. There is much better and more direct information available to it then the loading of trailer lighting circuits. What about different bulb selections, (LED, traditional tungsten filament, multiple bulbs, etc), would running different wattage bulbs change ECU strategy????. WTF

Yes that is my question! My experience is more with FI motorcycles where we used custom maps to deliver air and fuel Via "Power commander" I poorly wrote my question above forgive me. I was wondering if just the Trans changed or does the ECU change the Mapping of the air/ fuel delivery when a "LOAD is Introduced to the system.

It would be any load to cause a change not the load strength to determine amount of change basically all or nothing

    Thank you- Mike

Those types of "tuners" do not change ECU "maps", they plug in between and "tweak" sensor data to ECU such as O2 feedback.

Actually if they have'nt done it already it's a good idea. Present a load at the trailer hookup, ecu thinks there is a trailer hooked up, change the shift mapping and timing.

You can also consider tapping into the brake lights to power a led brake light. If you are concerned about changing the ecu mapping.
