Ah, gotcha. Yeah...you can blame the wild burros of Death Valley ;P We were heading up to Osbourne cabin and I was getting bored of the really bump way up there going in the wash, didn't think anything of driving hi-center over a wildflower bush...but a freakin giant rectangular boulder was apparently hiding in it. Not sure how I could have missed it but it did launch us up in the air and we were thinking- oh shit! What the hell was that?? We were getting close to 1/3 tank and it was still morning but the day was becoming hot. Luckily nothing fell out from under the truck, appears most of the damage was to the skids. So I will definitely take them off and check out the undercarriage more, I just assumed if the skids were broken, everything would be fine.

But I must say- these skids sure are worth their money! Thanks Relentless!! Now to try and find someone who knows someone who has a machine shop with a big brake in the SB/VTA area....

20151226_165551.jpg CBI gets my vote. There is one more piece that goes on to cap off the rear. I ran out of time on my day off work, here is a pic anyway... these skids are solid, not just a metal plate but re-inforced on the top of the skids with added welded on X-beams for added strength, all pieces overlap each other and fit like a glove. Does anyone have any current experience using RCI skids? It shows on their website that they redesigned them a year or two ago. They use 3/16 steel and the three plates only weigh 98lbs! I'm interested to see if anyone else has this set up now and how well it has held up.

I've got all the RCI skids! Keep in mind there is a big difference in the transmission skid if you order for stock exhaust versus aftermarket exhaust. The factory exhaust near the transmission hangs pretty low.

Their steel skids are stout! Ordered mine during a group buy in 2015.

That's great! Thank you very much for sharing. I'm planning on getting an exhaust reroute done in the next week or so. Can you post any pics of how they rerouted yours?

Mine is factory still. :( Only thing I've changed is muffler. If you reroute the exhaust you'll gain ground clearance. Wish I'd done that before. In order to clear the exhaust pipe that goes under the tranny I had to shim my trans skid with extra washers. Otherwise the pipe rattled against the skid and it was God awful!!

The crossmember that comes with the skid is built based on whether you are factory exhaust or not. So when I reroute some day I'll have to order the shorter profile cross member for better clearance.

Hey guys, I have a question for anyone who's got an IFS skid on a 4 cylinder. I wanna know how difficult it is to change the oil filter. Do you have to remove the skid or can you get to the filter from the fender well?

I picked up a Pelfreybilt IFS skid over winter and I'm waiting for a nice weekend to install it. I'm just wondering how oil changes will go. I'm considering fabbing up a small bolt on trap door to allow access to the filter from below. I'm trying to avoid dropping the skid for every oil change.

    Thanks!

I'm a thin guy but I can crawl under my truck and reach over the skid plate. I don't jack my truck up when I do my oil changes.

Anybody have any experience with the SOS Concepts skids? I read through the first few pages, don't see them on the pole, so hopefully I didn't miss it in here. They are local to me so I can pick up.

WP_20160410_001.jpg WP_20160410_003.jpg WP_20160410_004.jpg Installed the All Pro Transfer Case/Crossover Pipe skid plate in an hour today; lost about 1" of ground clearance measuring the bottom of crossover pipe to ground versus bottom of skid plate to ground; crossover pipe has plenty of clearance in the skid plate; a few tips: the cheap rock guard attached to the transfer case needs to be removed or it will be too close to rubbing the skid; also, connecting the driver's side tube of the skid plate requires flattening out the tab on the brake line holder (which uses the same bolt); see photos

How do you like it so far? I have the AP IFS skid and this is next on the list. Do you have the IFS skid as well?

haven't had the opportunity to test it out; just put it on for insurance against damaging the crossover pipe and transfer case
